THE green light has been given to a new railway station at Marsh Barton.

The scheme has been approved by Devon’s development management committee and, subject to Network Rail being satisfied that the operation of the station will not impact on the safety of users of the nearby level crossing, will now go ahead.

The two platform station will be unstaffed. It will have waiting shelters, cycle racks lighting, CCTV and an integrated help point and customer information service facility.

The county council is also proposing to erect a new steel footbridge to provide access across the railway for pedestrians and cyclists.

Good to see more development of the local rail network, I believe this is the proposed site.

There's a foot crossing just south of the station site. Infact the station will be built in between the crossing and its down whistle board.
