Interesting indeed. We may be seeing the start of a new freight train company! Definitely be interesting to see how they do!

Really not sure about that livery though... maybe it will grow on me, but we all know the risks of white on diesels!

It reminds me a bit of the livery on the ETHELs (Electric Train Heater Ex-Locomotive(?)) which was designed to match the blue/grey coaches... But yeah, there's a good reason why the locos of the era were in plain BR blue!

I'm not sure about this one, but in ownership or livery appearance wise but it appears that class 20s 20142 (BR Blue) & 20189 (LT Red livery) have been repainted and are out and about in a Balfour Beatty livery. I wonder if Balfour's are aiming to start up a Colas Rail type operation or whether this is just for moving OTP around the network?

They're not owned by Balfour Beatty, owned by Michael Owen (who used to own 73107 and 73201, until they were sold to GBRf).

I know this is slightly off topic here, but whilst looking through the pictures on the above link,
There is a picture of a DRS Class 37 37409 with quite bad front end damage.
Does anyone know what happened to the above mentioned Class 37? As in, what did it hit?

Sorry al, I didn't mean to ruin your day/evening..
It is photo number 9 I believe, taken recently going by the date on the feed.
Looks a sore one:o

Haha, that's alright, I'm not too heartbroken :P 37s are my favourite locomotives, DRS my favourite current freight/occasional passenger operator, and I've got a OO model of 37409 (an waiting for the N to be released) so that's the reason ha! Hope they can fix her, but it does look like a pretty big collision!

Hopefully to set your minds at ease, note the date the pic was tweeted and the conversation in the tweet immediately above.

I'm beginning to think that the class 20 is one of those designs that looks good no matter what colour you paint it!

The newest version of Firsts wavey lines! ie the 350s!

A gharish mash up of black, pink, purple and lime green.

Surely either of the above 2 would ruin a 20!!!!

Lime green? Not sure about those.

A First Group 20 would look rather smart, as it would be more like the FGW 57s or HST power cars in just plain Blue - which a few of the DRS ones have run around in. However, a GWR 14XX has been photoshopped into a version of First Groups Dynamic lines and that did look rather smart, so as long as you kept the Dynamic Lines on the bonnet and left the cab plain blue im sure it'd still look rather smart!

I think it said on the railway centre page that they will be used for electrification work on the GWML

Railway centre being too general to my mind...

Balfour Beatty have the Crossrail on-network electrification as far as Maidenhead only (including some upgrades Paddington - Stockley), I'd assume they'll be using their existing conventional wiring train and methods.

In the general sense though, it is Amey that have the 'GWML' contract, using the new High Output Plant system.

Was rather surprised to see these two in the east facing bay at Slough this evening - https://twitter.com/thebunkline/status/464847263177932800/photo/1

They were still there sat parked up in the bay with two ex converted Freightliner Flats when I went through Slough behind 33029 tonight. Balfour's will soon be using the former Langley Oil Terminal sidings as their Electrification base for the Crossrail OHLE Contract - meaning those former EWS wagons which were abandoned in the terminal for some considerable time have now gone.
