Anyone had a DM interview at Peak Forest? How long does it generally take to hear whether you've been successful or not?

Had mine today at peak Forrest, was meant to be at 10am but due to being early had it at 9am lol, a manager called Shawn interviewed me, was in about 30 mins very hard to workout if it went well, as didn't give much away just said you will from us soon , so I guess it's how long is a piece of string, did you have yours today ?

I suppose it's the way they work it as would be unfair to say with people still too be interviewed etc, would be good to hear from other people who have been interviewed on here, as this thread has been very quite really, and all other threads are active as hell lol

You don't know how many jobs they have going do you? I was inclined to ask today but didn't really feel it was appropriate. There's rumours of x number being available, but I'd rather go off the facts!

Hi folks, first time posting long time lurking lol.
I passed my assessments last thursday and are now waiting on
a date for managers interview. Seeing as you have just taken yours would it be possible for you to give me an insight into what they ask you ? Is it criteria based or are they looking for anything specific. ? Thanks in advance and my fingers are crossed for you both.

I did a lot of prep for it (ie: company info, history etc) which wasn't even needed!! He had a list of questions that relate to the skills needed for the role specifically. Have a look at the job spec on the website and make sure you have a good example for each skill.

I'm already in the industry on the infrastructure side so most of my answers we rail-related. Whether that goes for or against me remains to be seen!!

Yeah good advice as per above really I've heard 4 this was from a driver currently in training who was there today, I've also been told there after 100 drivers across the country by end off year, again only they know the real figures required, yes I've been lurking and thought it's about time we got this thread moving as I said previously, other threads have quite a few comments after each stage, good Luck with your interview when u get it.

I must admit i have my doubts about 100 drivers need recruiting, just recently Peterborough had a recruiting campaign for just 2 vacancies.

And I'm just going off hear say regarding the 100 as stated, I also agree it is a lot there's currently 3 groups going through training that's 36, so that only leaves 64, and I know there are meant to be courses in July/aug so if it's 12 per group that's another 24, which brings the figure down too 42 with 4 months left in the year, just going off what I've been told, if you take a driver operator at DBS and he goes Mainline there position then needs filling, so if you take all movements within the company then I'm sure it could happen

Phoned them today just to make sure they hadn't already recruited and not bothered getting back to me...they haven't, they said to be patient and they'll let me know either way in due course.

Hi all,
I am looking at applying for a trainee driver post (via the current on line form) for DBS and it quotes Bristol as a location ( but according to their corporate website Bristol has no rail freight buisness showing at present https://www.dbschenker.com/ho-en/career/jobs/locator_en.html ) can anyone with any info shed light on where they interview and then subsequently train their drivers for the depots that are spread all over the country?
Thanks.

Well done MD hope it goes well for you.

I too have found the DBS selection process much better than other companies, all tests and MMI in one day then production managers interview on another day and thats it, done!

Hi all,

After a bit of advice here. I'm looking at applying for Trainee Train Driver/Driver Operator in this new recruitment drive. Obviously a driver is a driver but what is the job role of a driver operator? Is it more of a shunting on the yard type role?

Also, in the application it says you need a minimum of 5 GCSE's at grade A-C which I unfortunately don't have. However having been in a safety critical role on the railway for over 5 years I feel my application would be strong, do you reckon the grades could be overlooked if it was strong enough or is that set in stone?

Any advice would be really appreciated.

yep .

with the very large number of applicants the company can pick the best ( in their eyes ) people . I would say you are wasting your time , but you've got nothing to loose . apply away .

Thanks for your reply. Yeah this was my thinking too, which is a shame as I'm dying to get down the front now. I might have a chat with the H.R but I can kind of guess the answer.

Don't be too sure , I posted application in November and didn't hear anything till
April when I was invited to tests.

Did all the tests and had an interview! That was 3 weeks ago.
--- old post above --- --- new post below ---
Had email through about half an hour ago saying despite performing really well in the interview I didn't get the job this time round. I've emailed back asking for some feedback regarding why I was overlooked so I know for next time.

Sorry to hear that Bigbadkeith, keep your chin up pal and don't be giving up I'm sure you won't, I've had my fair share of disappointments, but eventually I got there so keep at it and all the best with future effort, I've had countless knock backs at application stage, then failed a interview, to then pass it but fail part of old tests, eventually I did it and so will you
