Just a heads up but when I dropped me lass off to work today theres a B92 stock vehicle #48 that has had its front redone and is now sheer black with just a bit of red wrap at the edges from the sides.

looks pretty smart and much better than the tired fronts on them.

Is it a whole repaint or just the ends? The paint is quite tired on them, although personally I think red just gets tired quickly and a different colour would be better (wonder if something involving the DLR lime green with the TfL dark blue would look good?). Another thing that is tired: the LED destination displays.

Its just the nose ends all new glass panels. Yeah the blinds could do with a bit of work on them. They should repaint them in their original colour IMO:D

IIRC they ran a poll on their website asking folk which new design for the front end they preferred as they were going to restyle them and couldn't decide on it. I assume this is the outcome.

82 has been in service for several days, I even managed to get it twice in two days :D I also noticed that the headlight clusters have been replaced.
If you don't mind me asking, which "depot" is it, Poplar or Gallions Reach Beckton? Not that I'd really be able to see anything at at either, particularly Beckton because of its location even if it is around the corner from my uni (except that's finished for now and won't be in the area for ages!) :P

Yeah the lights are now LED clusters and do look smart donr they.

It was at Beckton - its was the top grey shed closest to the entrance for the trains to the depot - must only have one entrance to it.

The works are carried out in the "Commissioning Shed" which is the grey shed to the depot reception roads- they involve quite a complicated move to get into them!

The DLR did have at least one unit* liveried in the Paris Metro style of turquoise about a decade ago - I think the colours were reversed compared to Paris, though. Can't remember now, but they did tell me at the time when I asked about it that they had done it with the help of the Paris Metro.

It looked very good indeed.

*From memory, it might have been unit 49.

I don't know why the newer DLR stock arrived in red with swirly "River Thames" blue. I guess it just missed out on the TfL corporate look. Overground with its orange roundel got an Orange stripe/door version of Undeground and Tramlink got the green version to match its roundel. The turquoise version above would look great. Instead they've stuck with the red...

I don't remember the Paris Metro version. I'll have to look out for pictures.
