So, so sad to learn about the poor driver who died in his cab today at West Bank Hall Level Crossing. DSD GSM-R was activated and on receiving it, the signaller couldn't get any response back so an instruction was relayed to a driver coming the other way to investigate. The poor driver found his collegue deceased in the cab. Must have been shocking for them. RIP brother xx

Presumably till the signalman recognised that the train was an unusually long time in section and applied the rule book.

Sad news, but at least there is solace in knowing that to go out doing something you love can hardly be the worst way to go.

RIP

Terrible news - it must have been especially awful for the driver sent in on the opposite road. My thoughts are with the driver's family, friends and colleagues - rest in peace brother.

same as all the other posts... hope the other driver and the drivers family friends and colleagues manage to get through this difficult time and DBS offers any support that it can.

Condolences to all involved, a truely awful incident.

It's comforting to see how the safety systems operated though.

Very sad news - he was a lovely little fella.

Thoughts with his family, friends and the poor FL driver who had the task of finding out what was wrong - not a job I would have relished.
