About 2 years ago someone posted the Network Rail emergency number on my mobile phone and fortunately until today I haven't had to use it.....
..... but today while taking a few days holiday in Wool in Dorset, getting off the train from Weymouth at 15.35 as my wife and I were leaving the station when I heard the level crossing siren sounding again expecting to see another train coming through heard a loud bang and saw a large double deck coach "rocking" on the crossing as it went over. Walked down to the crossing noticing the train I was expecting to see was held at a red in the station although it was not expected to stop at Wool. When I got to the crossing two barriers either side were up and two were stuck down and was worried about the queue of vehicles building up. Remembering I had NR's emergency number on my phone, used it immediately and was able to report the incident to a very helpful member of staff, who contacted the police while we stayed to protect the crossing. So glad I had the number and suggest all members make sure they have it too.
