321 I'm on tonight is in need of a bit of TLC - side panels coming apart from each other, transformer is really noisy and the seats are quite muddy (seriously who puts muddy shoes on the seats for goodness sake) and some ground in stains and cigarette butts on the floor. Nonetheless it's departed on time and I am seated, pleasantly warm as the heating is working pretty well. Not a great deal to complain about so far, but I did overhear an announcement about the 1900 to Norwich being cancelled as I departed Liverpool Street., owing to hitting some sort of obstruction on the track at Manningtree.
Apart from the fact this'll be another 50p/mile trip I'm still fairly content for now.
Oh for those keeping tabs I'm in the MSO of 304.
Meanwhile on the joint worst provider Southeastern tonight at Maidstone West an apology for a train 2 mins late.
How the joint worst off are better off than other joint worst off.
If you happen to come up with any helpful information regarding my questions I'd be interested to know but until then I'll remain unconvinced
Not having read this thread completely, but just wondering how the offspring of our national pride (Dutch national railways) is doing across the pond. I know they get a 7 out of 10 from 77% of the travelers in The Netherlands this year with 90.9% of the trains running on time. How would you rate Abellio?
Discounted fare? Please explain. AGA contribute to the government, we don't have subsidies. Which is part of the reason why we are angry our services are so poor.
You should have left an hour earlier. 1738 LST to IPS was 4 car instead of 12 and it missed 4 stations, leaving hundreds late home. Still delays at Witham and between Colchester and Manningtree, though the latter was caused by some mindless idiot putting a concrete block on the track.
The AGA business needs to make a profit as a whole, problem is they have or did have loss leading rural lines, in order to make the profit fares have to be higher on busier lines
C2C don't suffer this problem hence the fare per mile is cheaper
FYI, Norfolk Council did help subsidise some rural lines although this may have stopped or funding has been cut
Lovely manoeuvre by greater anglia to try and avoid a cancellation stat.
They ran a 12 coach Ipswich last night ad a 4 car. Standing room only.
One might also call it, you know, useful, that a train service still ran, even if being short formed. It seems a little presumptive to think that such services are purely the operator trying to dodge a reported cancellation!
Yeah, that's not how cancellation stats work. Learn how the railway works before insulting others, please.Lovely manoeuvre by greater anglia to try and avoid a cancellation stat.

Sorry but that is totally ill informed nonsense.

(If you're interested, a train is cancelled if one stop is cancelled. So missing stops is only performed if it's required to get the service running to some level of sanity, since it carries the penalty of a cancellation.)

That wasn't deliberate. I'm just saying you're a massive hypocriteLovely misquote there - the nonsense was regarding the cost structure of the franchise.
It's a pity that some members of the "Improve AGA" campaign have been tweeting and re-tweeting staff members mobile phone numbers (also on their Facebook group) and the number of the control room whilst they were dealing with a person hit by a train.
How did they get access to this information? Got any links to this being done?
