Just seen this on First website for the TPE service.

This puzzles me though. Cleethorpes has about 4 platforms and is always very quiet, yet is staffed according to the NRE website.

How can they base a driver there? Would they always book on and off at Cleethorpes? Is there an office there where this takes place? What about the trains? Do they stable trains there overnight ready to go in the morning? Doesn't this have security implications? Or would someone from the depot (where is this?) drive a train to be taken over at Cleethorpes? It just seems a logistical nightmare to base drivers there!

It's end of line has 30 drivers and 27 guards based there usually has 6 units stabled overnight 5 x tpe and 1 x northern
all of witch get fuelled on the fuel point that is there.
There drivers work the Northern service to Barton and Tpe services to sheffield.
There is a signing on point as well as a management office and staffed ticket office

Hope this helps

Wow, thanks for that. I visit Cleethorpes about twice a year and whenever I walk past the station along the seafront it always appears very quiet. There's always a TPE train parked between services on the far platform though.

It just doesn't seem the kind of place you would expect such an operation to be run from, particularly given the single track configuration from Grimsby. Just looked at wikipedia and it seems you're right.

Are you a qualified driver looking to apply to TPE?

No I Just spotted the vacancy. I was just curious about the setup there. I have applied to northern for a trainee driver in Leeds. Cleethorpes is a bit far for me anyway.
