Thanks mbonwick, found 17448 parked at Preston bus station this afternoon, also there this morning was training bus 20602.

Routes 59 & 61 are ment to be the 13 reg Scanias as they were purchased for those routes though I did spot a Penwortham route branded E300 on the 61 yesterday.

Things will be a little off at Preston for a while as vehicles are away for paint - hence 17036/448 turning up.

John - policy generally is to remove centre doors, however in some cases this isn't worth doing when the vehicle is only due to be used for a few months.

Couldn't believe my eyes when 15680 turned-up on this afternoon 55A, which makes nice change to them two blue sieves (16793/16795), which normally work the afternoon 55A's.

The second Stagecoach Cumbria vehicle on route 685 Carlisle <> Newcastle has varied recently – today (Thursday 26 Feb) it was MAN E300 24117 PX59AZC, yesterday it was a 14 reg ADL E200. Last week saw another 59 reg MAN E300 which had sticky tape around it’s nearside rear corner. (The Stagecoach allocation is 2 vehicles – ADL E300 27141/2 SN64OGE/F).

Slightly off topic, on the local news today – the 1930s art deco Whitehaven Bus Station has now been bought from Whitehaven Marina by Britain’s Energy Coast for redevelopment - http://www.newsandstar.co.uk/news/b...y-coast-buys-whitehaven-bus-station-1.1195125

Last i heard it was at Middleton but there was Gossip going around that this and its 2 Sisters have already been bought by another Operator, will try to confirm

With Ace Travel Ceased Trading Stagecoach have managed to take advantage and won a decent number of Emergency Tenders, 34600 and 36072 have been seen at the Depot ready to operate this work and i have a feeling these aint the only Buses that will be drafted in

As it's a Ferrymill vehicle, its a pretty safe bet that it's covering for something away recieving accident damage repairs.

The Preston area service changes taking place at the end of March/beginning of April are detailed on their website. In some cases, running times of journeys are being extended, and this will be achieved by reducing layover times at route ends. As an example, the X2 sits in Preston Bus Station for 30 minutes. So, by extending journey times, this layover will be reduced.

Also of note is Preston route 9 to Moor Nook is having extra buses during the day, and changes to the 1 to Longridge.

All these changes will not result in any change to the PVR at frenchwood depot. Basically, peak resources will be used all day as a result of the changes, and the 2X section of the Liverpool - Southport - Preston express is being renumbered X2, bringing it into line with the rest of the route.

Summer timetables have now been published on the Stagecoach Bus website and these show an increased peak requirement for open toppers in 2015.

http://www.stagecoachbus.com/uploads/2015summerlakesconnection_web[0].pdf

Changes from 2014 include:

• 78 Keswick - Seatoller now also serving Derwent Water in the high season;

•508 high season open top journeys between Penrith & Patterdale;

• 599 high season hourly extension south from Bowness to Newby Bridge & Lakeside.

By my calculation, these services would now have a PVR of 11 [78 (3); 508 (1); 599 (7)].

Tridents 17692 (X702 JVV) - roof-damaged - and 17489/90/5 (LK51 FMJ/K/U), are reported to be under preparation as additional open toppers. Does anyone know if / how these conversions are progressing, please?

17692 coming along at Carlisle I believe.

17489/90/5 delayed at Bus & Coach World, Blackburn so the season will start with 17217 and 16534 at Carlisle.

Are all last seasons open topper continuing - or any moving on?

Out of interest a former open topper, 16294, now at Inverness, will perhaps soon be no more - https://www.flickr.com/photos/thejamster/16044469854.

All OTs staying within Cumbria & N. Lancs, except 16534 that may be disposed of due to poor condition.
That depends on how the rest of the fleet performs though.
