Nice to see that on the anniversary of Hillsborough the Mail managed to run a huge out of date story about Raheem Sterling doing Nitrous Oxide and moaning about his contract offer.

The Telegraph and Daily Star have also reported on the Sterling legal high matter today, online at least. Of those three, the Daily Mail are the only one to also run a story of today's memorial proceedings on their homepage. But of course, always just the Mail at fault

Well the Telegraph and Star are such fine upstanding left wing papers. I don't have the time or the interest in reading all of the right wing rags in one day.

What's it called? It's called Cumbernauld
Since I made this posting on 7th March, Ross County have carried on their amazing run of Scottish Premiership league results and in their last nine league matches, they have won eight and drawn one.

Can someone clarify a Scottish Premiership matter for me, as it seems there is something of a problem said to exist about the final five matches period of the fixture list.

The league is divided into two halves after 33 games, with no one being able to move from the top half into the bottom half and vice versa after that.

Each team then plays each of the other five teams in its own half once, giving a total of 38 games per season for each team.

The league splitting into 2 halves has sometimes resulted in the crazy situation in that the seventh placed team has accumulated more points than the sixth placed team above them. This has happened a couple of times in recent years.

In peace

Not that far out of date - the sun only ran with it on Monday or something.

Are you saying no news about Liverpool FC and its players can be broadcast on the anniversary of Hillsborough?

I just think it was a poorly timed none story.

The championship top 4 is going to the wire, I wonder what will happen with regards to the trophy at it's location on the final day if all 4 teams remain within 2 points of each other?

Last day of championship season sees Middlesbrough, Watford and Norwich at home, and Bournemouth away (at Charlton) so I would assume one trophy would be in Middlesbrough and the other sitting around Northampton area before heading in any of the 3 remaining directions.

How is it a non story? you think inhaling this stuff when you are supposed to be an athlete acceptable?

Given what we inhale walking around city streets every day a balloon of laughing gas doesn't bother me. If he was on 20 a day I'd be bothered. It was more that attitude of the journalist who wrote a very lengthy piece about it. He thought it was a disgrace that Sterling had inhaled laughing gas near to the anniversary of Hillsborough. The same journalist thought it was O.K. to show leaked photos of him doing so in an article published on the anniversary of Hillsborough and do a huge double page story about what a disgrace it was, this wasn't like breaking news.

So your on about an opinion piece by a reporter a couple of days after the event - this happens with lots of stories but regardless of that and what we may breathe in during the day it is nothing like and intentional action to get high.

Ive nothing against peoples use of recreational drugs both legal and illegal but I do have concern that a professional athlete feels the need to get high. Yes he is young and all that but still a daft thing to do. And if I were him I would certainly be questioning the loyalty of my friends with stuff like this.,

Rather interesting story about the Bradford fire
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-32330734

The judge who led the inquiry into the Bradford City football stadium fire has said claims it may have been started deliberately are "nonsense".

A new book claims the 1985 blaze was just one of at least nine fires at businesses owned or associated with the then chairman Stafford Heginbotham.

Sir Oliver Popplewell has stood by his verdict the fire, which killed 56 people, was an accident.

Yes but it was poorly and quite deliberately timed. As for a professional athlete feeling the need to get high, why do they do what they do in the first place.

You still haven't answered my original question - are Liverpool immune to having stories about them being in the news when it is the anniversary of Hillsborough?

Or is this more of that famous scouse outrage?

Well no we obviously aren't. I wouldn't say what I expressed was outrage. I just thought it was poorly timed. Which is just what the journalist thought about Sterlings outrageous behaviour. Or was that more of that famous "Journalistic Outrage"? :D

Rather interesting story about the Bradford fire
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-leeds-32330734

It's a load of drivel.

The chairman at the time was known for having mysterious fires when he was short of cash- we all joked that his toy factory went up in smoke every time the club needed some money.

And if Valley Parade had had a mysterious electrical fire during the off-season, I think most of us would have known who was behind it.

I can't believe for one second that Heginbotham would torch the stand with thousands of people in it, though, especially as the total destruction of the stand would be the aim. As much as anything, it would be too risky- he was in the stand, all the club dignitaries were in the stand, all the players' families were in the stand. And the chances of being seen would be too high.

As an aside, it is interesting the book only picks on Heginbotham- who is dead and can't defend himself- and doesn't discuss the other major shareholder at the time, Jack Tordoff. Funnily enough Tordoff is still very much alive and, given his JCT600 fortune, has the money to sue.

There's a lot of anger about the book from the fans. There's not too much blame towards the bloke who wrote it- we know he lost so much, and must hurt so badly- but there's a lot of anger towards the papers and the publisher. They've taken his whackjob conspiracy theory, where he's decided 2+2=699, and exploited it and exploited the club and its tragedy.

It's just grubby sensationalist nonsense and the date of publication- days before the 30th anniversary of that awful day- is just tacky and cynical. Horrible. The publishers ought to be ashamed of themselves.

http://www.bbc.com/sport/0/football/32342080 - Blatter compared to Jesus and Mandela. I have heard it all now...

Fifa president Sepp Blatter likened to Jesus & Nelson Mandela

Sepp Blatter has been likened to Jesus, Nelson Mandela and Winston Churchill as 10 Concafaf members gave their backing to the incumbent for the Fifa presidency elections in May.

The declarations were made at the Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football (Concacaf) congress.

Dominican Republic FA president Osiris Guzman compared the Swiss to iconic historical figures, also including Moses, Abraham Lincoln and Martin Luther King.

"Membership is sending a message that we continue to support Blatter," said Concafaf president Jeffrey Webb.

Blatter is one of four candidates.

The others are ex-Portugal international Luis Figo, Dutch FA chief Michael van Praag and Jordanian Prince Ali Bin Al Hussein, who, along with Blatter, were all present at Thursday's congress, but did not give speeches.

The Trinidad & Tobago Football Association praised Blatter, 79, as the "father of football".

The heads of football federations from Jamaica, Haiti, Turks & Caicos, Cuba, Panama, St Vincent & the Grenadines and Puerto Rico also expressed their support for Blatter, who is seeking a fifth term in office - having been in power since 1998.

There are 41 Concacaf member associations.

The election will take place in Zurich on 30 May.

Should be a great game to watch in The Championship tonight with 2nd placed Norwich (82pts) at home to 4th placed Middlesborough (81pts).

It's going to be a very exciting finish to The Championship season

Classy Reading fans remain classy by bullying a 10-year-old boy out of being a mascot at the FA Cup semi final.

The kid won a competition at the beginning of the year, but he supports Huddersfield Town, so he's been sacked.

Here's to a 27-0 Arsenal win.

http://www.getreading.co.uk/sport/f...ing-fan-complaints-force-huddersfield-9062630

Huddersfield Town fan Ryan Dearnley won’t be walking out at Wembley as a Royals mascot after Reading FC fans complained to the FA.

The 10-year-old won a competition during the third-round tie in Yorkshire to be a semi-final mascot.

Ryan’s family have revealed to the Huddersfield Examiner how furious Reading fans contacted the Football Association to complain.

In a getreading poll 85 per cent of readers felt the young lad, who joked in a video that he hoped Arsenal won, should not walk out with Reading at Wembley.

Alan, Ryan’s legal guardian, said: “I don’t blame the FA because they said they didn’t want Ryan to be upset on the day with any booing from the Reading fans.

“But for the football loudmouths to react in this way to a few harmless words from a 10-year-old is ridiculous.”

The FA have offered Ryan two tickets for the Arsenal end on Saturday but Alan says they won’t be going to London after all, even though he will lose the money he paid for the hotel.

There could be a happy ending for Ryan, however, as the FA has promised him the chance to be a mascot – for the England national team.

“He’ll enjoy that even more,” said Alan.

Instead of going to Wembley Alan and Ryan will be cheering on Town at home to Derby on Saturday.

“It’ll probably be a better game,” quipped Alan.

It is understood the FA acted swiftly to protect Ryan from any abuse from the 31,000 Reading fans due at Wembley.

An FA spokesman said: “Following Ryan’s interview in the local media, and with agreement from his family, it was decided to move his prize over to an England mascot place later this year.”

Reading FC announced on Thursday it would see the #RyansRoyals campaign going to Wembley as Ryan Duval would join his Royal heroes as one of their mascots.

Bullying? Hardly.

Kid wins competition at 3rd Round match. Kid gets picked by FA to be Reading mascot for semi-final. Kid says he wants Arsenal to win in local paper.

Reading fans ask why they don't have their own mascot, or at least someone who wants them to win (not unreasonable questions).

FA and Reading agree to get our Ryan in as mascot (see below). Hudds Kid gets to be mascot at England game. Win win.

The judge behind the original hearing dismissed the story outright on the grounds the stand had a zero value for insurance purposes as it was for demolition

How come Ian Wright is back on BBC Television as a pundit on the coverage of the FA Cup Semi-Final between Arsenal and Reading ?

I thought he was an ITV Man on TV at least (World Cup last year with Chiles)

Perhaps he is a "free agent"

Well it looks like Darlos hopes of automatic promotion have gone for the season after a 0-0 draw with Lancaster. Salford won meaning they should now win the league next weekend. Into the play offs for us where our record is played 5 lost 5. Oh dear :(

Salford City's last match is home to Ossett Town, who are in 18th position in the league.

Darlington have two rather different teams still to face. Their next match is an away match against Warrington Town, who are in 8th position in the league. Their final match is far easier, a home match against New Mills, who are in 21st position in the league.

I still cherish hopes that Hyde and Darlington will be in the same league next season, even though a wag at Hyde's last match in the Conference North jokingly suggested that Hyde will be playing in the Hyde Sunday School league next season, saying that was just about their standard...<(

Well done to both Falkirk and Inverness in getting to the Scottish Cup Final.
Hope they have a great day out in Glasgow.
