Its stored at toton at the right hand side of depot buildings looking from the banking amongst other locos. Can only make it out because of its blue roof most times though.

Its had the life stripped out of it. Its unlikely ever to work again. Its little more than a shell now.

It wouldn't surprise me (bearing in mind I have no knowledge of the inner workings of DB Schenker) if the engine ends up being put into a newly built 66 bodyshell, as I think happened with GBRF's 66754(?). Though DBS are unlikely to need to replace 66048 in their own fleet, it could be sold. Otherwise it might come in handy if a DBS 66 suffers a severe engine failure.

Chances are though that the engine itself will have been stripped for spares to a fair extent too.

What engine?
That was removed almost straight away and put into another 66 so that one could return to service. The demic engine was then dumped on 66048s frames.

With DB losing so much work, a new build is very unlikely. It may well end up the 2nd 66 to be scrapped. It looks pretty bashed up.

Wouldn't it be the 3rd UK 66 to be scrapped with the first being 66521. Wasn't there was one of the foreign ones scrapped too iirc

The one in Scotland that went skinny dipping in the loch was number 2.

66048's engine went into 66005 as far as I know.
