Of course, he's there to fill a quota. The best advice anyone can give him now is to buy a good cushion.

They obviously came back with an offer that was more to his liking. At least they have a comfy bench at Eastlands.

ETA: Delph did the same thing to us when he moved to Leeds, and did the same to Leeds when he went to Villa.

I'll look forward to see Delph in a relegation fight as he battles to resurrect his career in a few years time then. Money talks, but surely so does common sense and realism?

On second thoughts, maybe not.

£8m is really cheap too. Good luck to him

The poachers can smeg right off though.

Leeds presumably have some sort of sell-on clause, that might keep their creditors happy!

In the meantime, Manchester City have been offloading their own academy graduates with another one joining Harry Bunn at Huddersfield Town. It seems that Harry's dad Frankie who used to work at City's academy and now works down at Canalside has once again exploited his contacts to bring 20-year-old forward Jordy Hiwula to the Weak Beer Stadium on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee.

Is this the same Frankie Bunn who in 1989, scored six goals for Oldham Athletic in the third round of the League Cup in their 7-0 win against Scarborough?

There is conflicting info about this. Some say we bought it out a few years ago some say it still exists. But it won't be much anyway as we paid 6 million for the lying snake anyway. So they would only get 200-300k at most

I believe so, yes.

Every little helps, I suppose... But it looks like Leeds will continue to be a "Feeder Club" for the giants of Norwich City for a while longer...

Annoyingly, there's a sell-on clause on the aforementioned Harry Bunn, which would mean little Huddersfield Town having to pay a quarter of any transfer fee to Moneybags City.

Very late joining this thread! But with railcard in hand I shall be following my beloved Aldershot Town round as many Conference grounds as I can again this season by train. Just don't you rail employees let me down because some of the connections I need are a bit tight!!

I was actually wondering the other day how the old football specials worked what with drivers needing route knowledge. How did they cope going outside their 'terrain'?

Just like any long distance train really. A new driver would take over once the limit of RK had been reached

You will be very welcome at the Moss Rose when you take on the Silkmen on 23rd January 2016. however, Its a long walk, and all uphill, from the station so you might want to catch a 10, 14 or 108 bus, all of which will drop you right outside the ground

As this is the football thread thought I'd ask this in here rather then start a new topic.

Anyone had any success getting Euro 2016 tickets? Only applied for 7 games, delighted I was successful in getting a ticket for the semi in Marseillaise and a ticket for the final too. Bit disappointed I won't be able to afford to go out for any of the group games as well, but can't moan at what I got.

Anyone else get any?

Applied for 12 Games, got 0!

Though a mate and his mate both got Marseille Semi Tickets so looks like I'm the beneficiary for their spare pair. Planning a couple of days in Marseille for it then Paris for the Weekend of the Final.

Got England Group Games lined up too, will plan travel depending on where they play!

Was reading somewhere earlier Newcastle's new player Aleksandar Mitrovic was once described as making Mario Balotelli look normal and dubbed the Next Zlatan Ibrahimavic...

17 Things Newcastle Fans Need To Know About Aleksandar Mitrovic

His trademark goal celebration is good

Nothing sexual, just him sticking 2 fingers to his critics

Should be some fun and games with him as he must be bat**** crazy if makes Balotelli look normal...

If Balotelli is mad enough to set fireworks off in his house to see what would happen then god only knows what Mitrovic would do

Just booked my hotel for Marseille Weds and Thurs night, then Paris Friday till Monday. Looks like we'll be following each other round!

Won't be able to afford/have enough leave to do group games too though which is a shame.

Holy s**t! What has Mark Robins been smoking? We can't have too many quality players joining Scunthorpe, or my cheeky £5 bet on them winning promotion could actually be a winner!

In all fairness though, Tom Hopper, Jamie Ness and now Darius Henderson significantly add to the considerable midfield and strikeforce we have at the club. Scoring goals should not be a problems now, and with some of the defensive signings he's made as well, it could be a good season in this part of the country.

I think Scunthorpe along with Bury could be dark horse in League One this season and signing you sign I would put Scunthorpe to finishes in top 10.

I see England and Scotland will meet in 2018 World Cup qualifying as both draw in same group.

Group F: England, Slovakia, Scotland, Malta, Lithuania, Slovenia

I wouldn't worry too much yet, he had a habit at Huddersfield of signing young players with a lot of potential and then not using them, or playing them out of position. On the other hand, perhaps I should be wondering why he wasn't smoking it 18 months ago!

So a prediction for England's World Cup qualifier record:

P10, W8, D2, L0.

Highland Football League

Brora Rangers 11...Rothes 0

Good to see that in these top v bottom matches in this league, unlike those in the English Premiership, the dominant side does not "take their foot off the gas pedal" but continues pressing for the whole 90 minutes to give their supporters something for their money.

Well, that's one trophy that Mourinho won't be boasting about.

I was at Brora last week for their game against Alloa.

Alloa are 3 divisions above them but Brora never looked completely outclassed. They have spent a lot of money and their manager was playing in the Premiership last season.

Nice social club there as well, they made the Alloa support really welcome.

Some cracking scenery on the Far North Line helped pass the time as well.

Neville Neville dies in Australia

Neville Neville, father of Gary and Phil has sadly died in Sydney.

Neville Neville, the father of former England and Manchester United footballers Gary and Phil, has died in Australia.

He was taken ill on Tuesday while visiting the country to support his daughter Tracey, who is the England netball coach, during the World Cup.
England Netball confirmed the 65-year-old died in hospital in Sydney on Friday evening local time.

Mr Neville was a former commercial director of Bury Football Club.
The League One side said he was in Sydney with his wife, Jill, who is also club secretary for Bury FC.

In a statement, the club confirmed Mr Neville's death "with deep regret and extremely heavy hearts", and said it would pay tribute at a future date.
"Where would this Club be without Neville? Rest in Peace big Nev," the club said, adding players would wear black armbands during their match with Doncaster on Saturday.

Mr Neville was involved in the fans' group Save Our Shakers, which was formed when the side faced bankruptcy in 2002.

His sons, Gary and Phil, both started their lengthy football careers with Manchester United in the early 1990s. Gary won 85 England caps, while Phil won 59.

Manchester United tweeted: "We are sad to learn that Neville Neville, father of Gary and Phil, has passed away. Our condolences go out to his family."
An emotional Tracey Neville led her England side out on court on Friday just hours after it emerged her father had been taken ill.

Local media reported Gary and Phil Neville were in the Sydney crowd to watch England win their first match 60-19 against Scotland on the opening day of the World Cup.

An England Netball spokesperson said: "Our immediate thoughts are with Tracey and the Neville family and we please ask that the privacy of the family is respected at this time.

"Tracey has chosen to remain with the England team for the remainder of the World Cup and has the full support from everyone at England Netball."

Oldham started they season with 1-1 draw against Walsall, I feel Oldham will struggle this season and may finish near to bottom 4 but aleast we didn't lost our first match of season.

Surprise to see Sheff Utd lost 4-0 to Gillingham :o and Blackpool being life in League One with 2-2 draw to Colchester which mean they still can't win game away from home. (24 matches since they last away win)
