Can anyone please advise whether the last of the new open tops for this season have entered traffic yet, or when they might be expected to do so? I haven't seen any news of 17692 since it was at Lillyhall for the open day in May, nor of 17489 since early June, when it moved from Blackburn to Carlisle for painting. Thanks.
Good job they didn't get lost- if they were 'Odin out hope for an Atlas, they'd be sunk- they'd have to steer by Orion or some other constellation.
Shame they didn't send another two- that would have made a Mammoth transfer!
113 is now operated by Preston
There were least two Olympians on Services 2/2A's today.
With 16663 working the late running 17.18 Service 2 from Lancaster to Higher Heysham, and 16664 working the 17.40 (16.56 from Towers) Service 2A to University.
Ex Lancaster now Barrow 16661 did an X6 Barrow-Kendal and return trip on 28th July, unusual working.
That explains it, identified 47710 & 47713 on the route today. I take it that means the through working onto the 109 is over? Hope Preston don't allocate Solos full time, the use of Darts by Chorley has been very welcome especially at peak times.
Taken from the Westmorland Gazzette:-
HUNDREDS of bees swarmed onto the back of a bus in Kendal town centre, forcing passengers to be evacuated.
The Stagecoach bus pulled-up on Stricklandgate after shocked onlookers noticed the colony of bees clinging to its rear.
A replacement bus was arranged and passengers were ushered away but police are preventing the affected bus from moving as the bees 'could pose a risk to the public'.
The Gazette spoke to a bee expert, Dennis Chambers, from Shap, who said it is likely the queen bee flew into the back of the bus and was followed by the males in a bid to reproduce.
He said: "Swarming is the only way they can reproduce. They have usually finished swarming by now but while they're reproducing they can be quite dosile."
One shocked passenger, who wished to remain nameless, said: "It's one of the more unusual bus journeys I've had. We only noticed there was something wrong when some young boys began waving at the bus but I think they were just making the bees angry.
I always wondered what happened to The Bee Line Buzz Company!!
That was the first thing, that enter my mind, when I read the article.
I think Merseyside start going Gold after Cumbria - so probably around November time.
The first two of seven Tridents have arrived at Gillmoss from Gloucester
Some of the Gillmoss Tridents where due to leave Gillmoss last night for Hyde Road but due to that crash on the M57 the Drivers coming in had to turn back
Complaints are totally justified
Totally stupid idea to put solos on busy times
Jobs boost as City Hopper's bigger buses return
Reays is re-launching its award-winning City Hopper buses in Carlisle next month, with each vehicle carrying up to 63 passengers and offering plenty of room for buggies and wheelchairs.

So far five Alexander Dennis Tridents (18378, 18385 and 18440-2) have transferred to Merseyside from Stagecoach West with six Optare Versas (25229-34) moving to Gloucester in exchange
Former Stagecoach London Dennis Tridents 17271, 17273, 17325 and 17331 have transferred from Merseyside to Stagecoach Manchester

Due to Stagecoach Management refusing to listen to the passengers complaints, looks like Reays, are now stepping-in to pick-up the pieces!

As it is only route 68 which Reays are introducing I assume it is a response to complaints about the changes Stagecoach made in May to the 67 & 68 which has led to much grumbling ever since,
This is great news and even better giving stagecoach and its mostly miserable drivers 2 fingers
I just hope it is supported by passengers
I will definately be using reays
If Reays gets the support from the passengers, who knows they may start more services in Carlisle.
