An On Track Machine has failed and subsequently, the rescue resource (unknown) has become derailed at Panteg where I think it could been in process of crossing over. All lines closed and attempting to source Road Transport. Passengers advised to travel other routes, i.e. Birmingham, in meantime. Lines cannot be re-opened until Emergency services and RAIB have completed investigations, ETA 1800. Stressed no passenger trains involved. Originaly only Down Line affected but now all closed.

Annoyingly ATW on Twitter are just referring everyone to Journey Check, which is very useful at times but not when there's no information regarding the train I'm due to catch, which is currently sat at Hereford and clearly won't be arriving in Cardiff on time. I suspect the lack of information regarding services either side of the derailment isn't very useful for a lot of people.

Here's hoping they have a spare or two sat in the depot.

Have learnt that 6V75 Dee Marsh to Margam pushed the OTM into Panteg Loop out of the way but was derailed when reversing back out again. Up Line now re-open

Both lines open approx. 18 30

I expect DB Schenker was able to get a rerailing crew on site from Newport pretty quickly. Had the derailment happened at somewhere like Pontrilas, it might have been a different story.
