Hi all,

Looking to make this journey on the first weekend in September, travelling out evening on the 4th Sept and returning evening of the 6th Sept.

Currently got the following itinerary and am wondering if I'm missing any tricks or splits somewhere...
All tickets are advances too : -

Reading - Banbury (network railcard)
19.15 - 19.56 @ £6.95
Banbury - Coventry
19.57 - 20.26 @ £7.40
Coventry - Stafford
20.27 - 21.31 @ £6.90

Then changing at Stafford to Wigan on the 21.55 - 22.46 for £4.50.

Totals £25.75 going out

Returning on the 6th I've found
Wigan - Bhm New Street
18.28 - 20.06 @ £15.50

Bhm New Street - Banbury
20.33 - 21.17 @ £5.30

Banbury - Reading (railcard)
21.19 - 22.08 @ £6.40

Totalling £27.20 on the return.

Both journeys total £52.95.

I looked at coming back via Coventry too, but there was almost an hours wait for the next train.

Any help much appreciated - Thanks in advance!

As you're returning on a different date to the outbound, flexible tickets would be more expensive for an 'open' return than day returns would be. £25-27 each way therefore is a fair price at two weeks' notice. Book as soon as possible before the prices go up.

Cheers folks, much appreciated. The Reading - Banbury leg has gone up in price so I've bought the open return for simplicity :)
