Been on here for a while, and never really got to really converse with anyone so here goes:
My name is Charlie, I'm 25 and I live in Redcar North Yorkshire. I volunteer at my local Citizens Advice Bureau and care for my disabled father - life can be so lonely at times.

My love for trains started from a very young age and it has never left. Although not so good on my some aspects (numbers etc). To me it provides a parallel world, a form of escapism, being able to board at a place where you feel worn out and end up somewhere new, full of adventure. Anyway enough of the sob story lol!

On here to looking for mates who have interests in the railway, or even a travel buddy!

Hi pennine, you'll be welcome at the forum challenges and meals so don't be shy.

Hi all,

Most of the above covers who I am and what I do but I recently started to spot trains through discovery of the Network Rail Open Data Feeds.

I'm active on a lot of the model railway forums as I'm trying to put together a freight layout set in modern-day South-West England/South-East Wales, however this is the first "full size" forum I've joined!

Cheers,

Matt

Hi,

My name is Marcus and I am a train and bus enthusiast living in the North East. My local station is Chester-Le-Street, although I use Durham for everything purely because of the variety and opporunities.

As could be suggested by my username, my favourite locomotive is the Pannier 57xx class, although the A4s come in quickly after. As for modern image, I love the Class 43s, and a smile comes across my face everytime I get on one! I hate Voyagers, though! - not only do they look ugly, they are cramped and smell! (namely the CrossCountry ones!)

My favourite operator is East Coast, simply because they are so professional. However, every now and then I do use CrossCountry or First TransPennine, who also operate through Durham (to my discretion!)

Please visit my Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/photos/127739730@N02/

Many thanks,
Marcus :)

Hello, I'm Philip Newton and I live in Hamburg in Germany.

I love reading timetables and maps and also enjoy reading the fare tips (e.g. where to split tickets or which routes can be taken on an ANY PERMITTED).

Not a spotter but a bit of a bagger in the sense that I have taken trips just for the sake of having taken that trip, perhaps because it goes along a line or to a destination that's interesting somehow.

Hi there, I live in the small ex Mining village of Newtongrange, as you know the Waverley line has just been resurrected there and of which runs at the bottom of my street, the station is also a short distance away.

I have been caught up in all the activities leading up to the opening of the station by the Queen.

The icing on the cake was seeing the A4 Union Of South Africa which was very nostalgic for me as my father was a fireman on this Locomotive back in the day.

I hope by joining the forum I can gain from all your knowledge and thanks in advance for reading my intro.??????

Hi all!

My name is Daniel, and I'm a long time lurker on these forums, and created an account a little while ago now.

I am a tram driver and generally light rail is my area of expertise, however I am equally interested in all aspects of rail and other public transport in the UK.

I look forward to contributing some more in the future!

Evening!

I was previously a frequent poster on here under the name Sulzer25 but I've decided after all this time to start fresh as I've recently got back in to the railway hobby after some encouragement and I'm enjoying it. As some of you know I disappeared a few years ago off the scene as I had a lot to concentrate on in life and then started my career as a coachbuilder with a well known international transport firm.

Hoping to make some new friends and possibly see some old and familiar faces as I'm back properly this time. Sorry!

Miles
