Norwich to Leicester via London

Hi all. A quick query - I need to travel from Norwich to London tomorrow morning, and then from London to Leicester later in the day.

London is not - to my understanding - a valid routing point for Norwich to Leicester. Is there any alternative to two Single tickets, Norwich to London and London to Leicester?

You can also look at splitting at somewhere like Stowmarket, Ipswich, Manningtree or Colchester (as long as the train from Norwich to London stops there) - not sure whether or not these will be cheaper than splitting at London.

Lemonic is right: Stowmarket to Leicester, and Ipswich to Leicester, are both valid via London.

However, trainsplit suggests that you see whether Norwich-Chelmsford and Chelmsford-Leicester works out as the best combination, although what's best will depend on whether you call at Chelmsford late enough for an offpeak single from there to Leicester. For this to work, you would have to be on a train that makes a scheduled stop at Chelmsford. (Just checked: must leave Chelmsford after 0930.)

It's also worth checking for a combination of a Norwich-London Advance (available for departures from 0800 onwards) and a London-Leicester Advance: depending on time of travel, that may be cheaper.

Thank you both for your advice. Ultimately I had to buy on the day so couldn't take advantage of Advance fares.

Useful to know the above, however, as I travel between Norwich and Leicester frequently.
