Just got my email for assessment next week. Am I correct in thinking some people have already taken assessment day and passed. seems I'm late to take it.

You're not late in terms of this particular recruitment. It's just that some people have passed the tests previously and may go straight to the DM interview.

I'm also through to the assessment.

Couple of questions that some of you may be able to answer:

How many are usually on these assessment days? As there are a handful of us on this forum alone, it suggests that getting this far isn't quite the achievement it looks at this stage?

It lists for this 'first stage':
Group Bourdon
Trainability for rules
Tea Occ.

Does this mean that there will be another assessment day to complete? It says to allow all day to complete however, some of the slots are for the afternoon only.

At the moment i'm struggling to commit to any of the dates given (they're all next week) as getting time off work at short notice is difficult. I'm waiting to see if a colleague can cover me as otherwise I can't do it.

There are two assessment days.
And trust me getting this far is very much an achievement as I've been applying for over three years and this is the furthest i have ever got

Trying to get a day off for my assessments, shouldn't be too difficult given all the favours i'm owed.

What worries me right now is that i'm not even worried about this round of assessments, i'm not sure if it's a good thing or not.

Anyone been to a TPE assessment day before?

Yes I went last year. To answer your other post; last year it was in a large room in a hotel, around 50 people in the morning and 50 in the afternoon and I believe it took place over two days so around 200 people in total. It will be stage 1 tests only on this day, the same ones you've listed.

If you are successful then stage 2 will be a few weeks later and only a small number of people will go each day. It can take most of the day if several of you are successful and need to sit the MMI at the end.

Wow, so there must still be about 400 people still in the process then as there's 4 days worth of assessments.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like I can get the time off work due to the lack of notice.

Had the e-mail today for assessment centre next week in York. Still very very competitive at this stage. Good luck to all who are in the assessment centre next week.

Applied internally. I had an email with subject "assessment centre" but the email itself states "The next steps of the process will be an interview and you will be contacted by email to confirm dates and interview location." So I don't know if I'm assessment centre or straight to interview. Asked HR so we shall see

Matthew, have you done the assessments before? because I received the same email but have never been to the assessment center. I'm going to email admin I think.

-David

I got my email this morn too

Dear Matthew,

We are pleased to advise that you have passed your assessment for the role of Trainee Train Driver.

Should you be shortlisted, the next stage of the process will be an interview for which you will be contacted by email in due course to confirm the details.

Hi mate, yes I have done them before. 12 Months ago I did both parts of the assessment including MMI on the same day

Thanks for the reply Matt, I thought that would be the case. I emailed First explaining that they may have put me in the wrong category as I had not done the assessments before. Just received a reply saying that I had been and have now got a slot for assessment.

Very happy to have gotten this far, good luck to all.

Best regards, David.

Does anyone know how many positions there are available for the York Trainee Driver Vacancy?

With 4 days of testings, both morning and afternoon slots, thats a lot of potential candidates to wittle down. I'm sure I read earlier that there was only one driver position available for York, but surely with this many people through to testing, we can't all be competing for just one spot??

10 positions across 4 depots. A relative also saw ok BBC News at lunchtime that TPEX were recruiting 10 new drivers

I have asked First how many positions at York and was told 4. Unfortunately I cannot make any of the slots next week due to work. I'm in a safety critical position working in a small team currently and there are already colleagues on leave so I couldn't get the time off. Very disappointed but hopefully there will be another opportunity. Good luck to everyone who is still in the mix.

When I spoke to First recruitment, they told me only requirement of one for York. I know this contradicts what Chaser was told and I hope he is right!

I wonder why they're doing the two sets of assessments over separate days, presumably to whittle the candidate pool down a bit for the computerised testing.
