And I've finished for the year on a grand total of 4,186 miles, a new record for me.

Added 658 miles in the last 3 days of the year to finish on 11122, which is by far the most I've ever travelled by rail. (I blame this forum :) )

Previous totals since I registered here
2014 - 7319
2013 - 5151
2012 - 4412

Next year I suspect will be less with the Dover to Folkestone line out of action for a long while.

I've added up my December totals, 1342 for the month to leave me on 23948.75 heavy rail for the year, frustratingly just 51.05 miles short of my target for the year.
London underground mileage totalled 174.53 giving me a combined total of 24123.

That leaves me currently sitting in 7th place, still hopeful of a top 10 place, but I expect a few below me to total up and overtake.

My final total for 2015 is 16,510 miles and 20 chains, which I'm really pleased with for my first year on the railways. My most productive month by far was August with 2,737 miles, with my lowest months for mileage being January, March and May which were all poor months for mileage with only 602 miles managed in those three months put together.

A few statistics from 507021's rail journeys in 2015:

Journey total for 2015: 512.

Most used EMU Class: Class 319; 77 journeys.
Most used DMU Class: Class 142; 55 journeys.
Most used Loco Class: Class 37; 4 journeys.

Least used EMU Class Classes 317, 365, 377 and 387; 1 journey each.
Least used DMU Class: Classes 168 and 172; 1 journey each.
Least used Loco Class: Class 43; 1 journey.

Most used operator: Northern Rail; 224 journeys.
Least used operator: Chiltern Railways; 1 journey.

12,000 miles is the target for this year, so as long as I get that, I'll be happy.

Most used loco class: Class 43 High Speed Train (two journeys)

Least used EMU class: all (0 journeys) except 390, 375 and 393
Least used DMU class: all (0 journeys) except 158, 159 and 180
Least used loco class: 37, 67 and 68 (0 journeys)

Used operators (in descending order):

Unused operators: The rest of them.

I finish the year on 16,806 miles. Not bad at all, but I've been helped a fair bit by several long distance work trips.

I'm still knee deep in calculations... :/

Biggest outstanding nightmare... Does anyone have the BLS Spa Valley Rare Track report?

An increase on last year for me. :D

I may give you a run for your money this coming year. :p

How much longer do people need to finish their calculation? If there is no objection, you have your two week notice and the competition shall close for 2015 in approximately two weeks' time.

For a last chance then, does anyone know the mileage from Bull Street to Jewellery Quarter on the Midland Metro? Thanks!

5073 miles for me in my first year of keeping track, even with no miles in December and the commitments of a full time A Level student!

I can't find distances for the new extension, so your options are to either hope someone else on here has the distance, use the Google Maps measurement tool, or get in touch with Centro and ask them.

I'm on catch up, but will be only counting "big mileage" - I'm not faffing about with the likes of Metrolink etc this year

Q4 total mileage 5166.5

My big mileages in October were the West Yorkshire Day Ranger, and the Southern Daysave when I landed 22 Class 442s that weekend. November saw me doing the reopened Waverley Line as far south as Gorebridge, the Greater Manchester Day Ranger, and a circular trip Glasgow Central - Carlisle - Lancaster - Barrow-in-Furness - Whitehaven - Carlisle - GLC. The low mileage of 1088 in November is because I started my seasonal work earlier than normal, working nightshifts. December was hunting for the 2 remaining 442s, plus some 313s and 315s that same weekend. The last new track for me in 2015 was Hednesford - Rugeley TV, as I first did Walsall - Hednesford when the Chase Line reopened to passenger services in 1989.

My total mileage for 2015 is 18077.25 miles, compared to 13482 in 2014. This puts me just outside the top 10, compared to 2014 when I was sitting just outside the top 20.

Happy track bashing for 2016 :)

My end result for 2015 was 5084.39 miles.

This is down from 5860.57 in 2014 and 5437.76 in 2013. I blame it on my friends in York not inviting me to visit at any point.

Of that 5084.39 miles, it split the following ways:

FGW - 2061.60
GTR - 646.39
AGA - 519.60
ATW - 506.76
S - 192.29
CR - 141.53
SE - 87.37
EM - 43.53
LO - 39.88
SW - 34.75
TFL - 20.18
LM - 16.08
XC - 14.72

In London:
DLR - 256.68
JUB - 185.15
NOR - 86.48
PIC - 53.84
DIS - 34.35
CEN - 33.59
CIR - 26.66
BAK - 20.80
W&C - 4.41
H&C - 1.18
VIC - 1.10

And finally:
Welsh Highland Railway - 39.91
Ffestiniog Railway - 15.58

Hi

Been a visitor to this site for a few months and took the plunge and joined up Christmas Eve!

It's taken me a good few weeks to make my first post as I have been recording all my journeys for 2015 and having given up on most of the London underground trips I've reached 40679 for the year (most of that being my commute).

Thanks.

Yes I will be. Not got the big commute anymore (well not as often) so don't think I'll manage anywhere near as many miles as last year.

Added up the NR stuff as best I can (using a combination of Railmiles and RTT, so there may be odd discrepancies) and come out at around 12,200 miles this year - not too bad going really. If I added the bits of Metrolink, LUL and Irish miles, it would probably come out a bit higher, but not by much.

I managed to get a few miles out of work this year too, with a couple of trips to Cheltenham from the North, which added a bit and on one trip, got me a HST each way (not a single Voyager in sight!!!) as well as another than turned into a bit of a bash on the way back when I spotted a 350/3.

My YP runs out at the start of April 2016, so the next few months will have a few bits in, but I very much doubt 2016 mileage will be as high as this year

Finally finished my furious calculations! Just over 17,000 by far and away my best result ever and I worked out that I spent just of 13 days on trains which seems like an awful lot really

So my total has come to 15787 miles with my biggest trip being Leeds to Penzance via a load of branch lines and back over three days (It was meant to be two but a broken down HST saw that go out the window) totalling 1563 miles. This has been my highest year yet.

If I were to include my work mileage of 37257 miles then my total would be 53044 miles but alas I will just be including personal miles.

Spent just over 13 and a hald days on trains.... Let's see whether 2016 can be any bigger.... judging by the start I've had, I doubt it :D
