Well February is a write off then
Yup I would agree ... But there is always March ??????
Well February is a write off then
Yeah.. always March. . And so on.. it's a long waiting game..
I do hope they do still have jobs for us but I just can't see it.
Put your mind at ease.
Recruitment will always be ongoing. Turnover is what drives recruitment. Yes the service demand needs to be met and it does fluctuate but that can be micromanaged. From looking at a few Franchise agreements there is a move towards making recruitment part of the process. With the public no longer accepting that lack of staff as a reasonable excuse I would say that recruitment is generally on the increase.
It may slow, but it will never stop. (at least not again)
But from reading between the lines
Don't
Second guessing doesn't help you and just puts you and others in a panic. The recruitment is what it is. The whole process is long and drawn out filled with rumour and conjecture.
Application, assessment, interview, medical, job offer. A whole lot of waiting in between.
Be patient and concentrate on getting through the process. When your through it thank you lucky stars and be very patient. Any concerns you should call the TOC directly. I've seen franchises change hands a few times and the day to day just keeps rolling on.
It has changed. Under the old Train Driver Licencing regulations, medicals were valid from 3 years. So every three years as a Train Driver - you would need to go for a medical.
Now, with the new European Train Driving licencing regulations, medicals are only valid for 2 years > plus they are a lot more in depth. But this is currently only for new trainees and qualified drivers who hold a new European Train Driving Licence. Certain medical providers (who tend to do a lot of corporate medical stuff) seem to have been caught on the back - foot about these new regulations and don't seem to understand what / how...
However, it is up to individual operating companies at the recruitment stage how long a pre-employment medical is valid for. Legally, the absolute maximum is 2 years for trainee/qualified drivers but a specific TOC might only be say for 6 or 12 months depending on their HR policies in force at the time.
So I just got a call for a Feb29th start date for Kings Cross. Good luck to everyone still waiting. And I'm sure I will get asked so I applied in Feb 2015, Medical in June 2015. Been a long wait
