This weekend, I'll be off to Gdansk. I've looked up a few places of interest, but I'd be interested to hear any recommendations.

If historical parts of the city are something you may wish to see, there is the wide area of Dlugi Targ (Long Market) with many interesting buildings and there are two other edifices of Zlota Brama (Golden Gate) and Zielona Brama (Green Gate) well worth visiting.

Have a great time, Gdansk is a fascinating place, as is much of Poland, a very underrated country. Some great architecture, I enjoyed the museum which explained the more recent history, the birth of Solidarity etc.

Plus the brew pub across the river, hope that's still there.

Sopot is a nice seaside town with a pier and it's just down the coast with a very frequent service.

It's a shame that another seaside town is probably too far to go to and back in a normal day, or you could have gone to Hel and back!

And Hel might be freezing over at this time of year :)-

it's only about 2 hours to Hel by train, changing at Gydinia, or slightly less on a ferry from Gdansk. Hel is quite nice

I too can vouch for Sopot, lovely little seaside town and only a short distance from Gdansk Glowny. Malbork with its historic castle is also worth visiting, from memory it's roughly an hour and half journey from Gdansk. In Gdansk itself the old town has more than enough in it to keep you occupied for a couple of days, most of it is all within a walkable distance, otherwise the cities execellent tram network can get you to virtually anywhere. The zoo is also worth a visit too.
