Peterborough 1-2 Oldham

L.Kelly second half penalty gift Oldham all three points at Peterborough and move within point of safety. :D

This is first time since end of March 2015 that Oldham have won back to back matches and first time since 2005 that Oldham have won at Peterborough ground.

Not good night for Arsenal and look like they be heading out of UCL (in last 16 round) for five years in row.

Or, as I used to call them in my ground hopping days, Swindon Submarine

The world's greatest footballer scored again last night... Nahki Wells bagging a much deserved equaliser late on at Franchise FC, after Huddersfield Town had been unfairly reduced to 10 men just after half time.

Apparently some unknown Argentine scored a couple in North London too.

Had to google that Franchise FC as I had never heard of it before, but I agree with the sentiment completely...

Apparently some unknown Argentine scored a couple in North London too.

First time an Argentine has scored more than once on British soil since 1982

Oxford United's traditional post-Christmas capitulation ended prematurely last night with a 4-1 win away at Exeter City :D bringing them within 3 points of 2nd placed Plymouth Argyle, who could only manage a draw away at Yeovil Town.

At least Man Utd made amends for last week's showing against Midjtylland, by beating them 5-1.

Joining Spurs & Liverpool into the hat for the last 16.

I thought that the young Marcus Rashford took both goals on his debut with an air of assurance.

The lad done well Paul! Thrown in at the last minute when Martial broke down in the warm up.

Luckily people were on hand to reassure him that once the transfer window opens in the summer he could get a transfer away from the struggling mid table team that currently employ him ...................

In the draw for the round of 16 Europa League home/away fixtures, I note the following to be of interest to some on this thread:-

Liverpool v Manchester United
Borussia Dortmund v Tottenham Hotspur

Liverpool v Manchester United is certainly and interesting one!
I have no idea who i would be edging for at the moment, it all depends who is on the cripple list!

I though we would get an all Prem tie, that one should certainly add a bit of interest to the competition

And Gianni Infantino is the new FIFA president......

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/35673743

Switzerland's Gianni Infantino has succeeded countryman Sepp Blatter as Fifa president.

The Uefa secretary general polled 115 votes in round two, 27 more than closest rival Sheikh Salman bin Ebrahim al-Khalifa.

Prince Ali bin al-Hussein was third with four, while Jerome Champagne failed to get any. Tokyo Sexwale withdrew before voting began in Zurich.

The first round of voting had failed to determine an outright winner.

One English team in the quarter finals, who will probably be joined by Lazio (who have Sparta Prague in the coming round).

In the CL realistically only Man City will go through, maybe Chelsea and definitely not Arsenal. Juve have a chance to progress, Roma not so much.

So...Things looking relatively ok-ish for the PL to keep its fourth CL spot from the Italians?

Evo Stik Premier League

Ashton United 3...Hyde United 0

Hyde did not appear to have taken any heart whatsoever from the one win for months in the league that occurred last weekend and there was no surprise whatsoever that in the "derby match" away to a more skilful side much higher in the league, they would once again succumb.

Just think, Hyde United spent two years in the Conference Premiership only a few years ago (the second year best forgotten) when they actually beat Woking 7-0 at Ewen Fields, in their first season, where they finished just below mid-way at the end of that first season.

What next...another successive relegation....perhaps to the Hyde Fish Fryers Sunday League next season...<(

Scunthorpe 1-1 Oldham

Sound like we were lucky don't to been 1-0 down as our goalkeeper made some good save to keep it goalies, When I saw Oldham gone 1-0 up I thought we will hold on to win and move out of relegation zone but sadly Scunthorpe score two mins from time (sound like poor def from us) to ditch Oldham all three points. :(

We stay in 22nd place and still one points off 20th place, we got Port Vale and Swindon this week and I do think them games are winnable for Oldham.

It was a poor defence...

Excuse me while I play the world's smallest violin for those poor professional athletes! ;)

Result from the weak beer stadium today, Football 0 - 1 Hoofball. At least next season, season tickets will be only £179 so the cost will compare well with other ways I could spend 2 hours every other weekend!

AFC Wimbledon 1-2 Oxford United! :D Not a pretty game but fantastically competitive and it sees the yellows win their 6th away league game of 2016.

Banbury United 2...Winchester City 1 (Barcelos 25, Johnson 42; Bentley 79)

Winchester City lost their place on top of the league in this top of the table clash. 589 people showed up for the "Football for a fiver" game and Banbury dominated the first half, capitalising on poor City defending to take a two-goal lead into the interval. City came back in the second half and had a clear penalty for handball turned down before Warren Bentley scored yet again with ten minutes left but despite laying siege to the hosts' goal, they couldn't find an equaliser and Banbury held on to take top spot. Banbury host lowly Bridgwater on Tuesday, while Winchester take on Northwood in the League Cup on Wednesday before hosting Swindon Supermarine on Saturday.

Current table:

1. Banbury United P31 66pts
----------------------------------------
2. Cinderford Town P27 65pts
3. Swindon Supermarine P30 65pts
4. Winchester City P30 64pts
5. Taunton Town P28 58pts
----------------------------------------
6. North Leigh P31 57pts
7. Shortwood United P30 55pts
8. Evesham United P30 51pts
