Prince, singer and superstar, dies at 57 at Paisley Park

Police were called to a medical emergency at his Paisley Park estate earlier on Thursday, US media reported. An investigation is now under way.

Prince became a global superstar in the 1980s, with albums such as 1999, Purple Rain and Sign O' the Times.

His innovative music spanned rock, funk, and jazz, and selling more than 100 million records during his career....
another music loss

One heck of a shock! I've followed his music since the early 1980's & whilst not everything he recorded was to my taste, you can't doubt the raw energy & talent of the chap.

I doubt we'll see his like again.

A musical genius. Some of his music is the definition of classic "endlessly re-experienceable, with pleasure"

This was a shock and the world of music has lost a huge talent with the passing of Prince.

Genius... I grew up with his music through each genre. We will never see anyone like him, he did everything within music and all self taught. He wrote for others which became huge hits.
I am still stunned at the loss of a music star. RIP

If there's anyone reading this thread who isn't familiar with Prince's music, you may well have heard some on the TV recently.

The music used in the current Virgin media advert is called "I feel for you" and the version played was recorded by Chaka Khan. It's a Prince song though, dating from 1979.

Other more famous Prince songs recorded by others include "Nothing Compares 2 U", recorded by Sinead O'Connor and "Manic Monday" by the Bangles.
