i would expect that the 80/x80 is a bit of a awkward contract to have only being wednesday and saturday so frome minibus might have been happy to get rid.

stagecoach on the other hand could be interesting espesually if things are networked in the cotswolds

It's one thing running Dursley services from Gloucester and Stroud depots. Bit trickier with more farflung services (and from my unscientific observations, the Belles Express is hardly pulling up any trees).

What will be interesting is what happens if / when Stagecoach opens a depot in West Wiltshire. The response from First and Faresaver will need to be sharp!

Whether or not Stagecoach will be prepared to make the investment now that we have entered these uncertain times is anybody's guess.

I don't know if they will. They have never bothered with Malmesbury (despite the 31) and they closed their Chippenham outbase. A more likely turn of events might be for someone to buy Faresaver but who knows what chance there is of that anytime soon

I don't know the circumstances around the Chippenham outbase and if they differ to now. I imagine land values are fairly high in Chippenham?

I think First has been shrewd withdrawing from the area. If Stagecoach expands, it gives First an initial buffer in the form of Faresaver. If First expands, they could have an easier time buying Faresaver as they wouldn't be buying a direct competitor (except for the Melksham and Frome routes, of course).

I think Faresaver have had a very cute strategy against First. You'd like to think that First would try to buy into them to give them first dibs if they were to sell up

Cotswold Green currently run the following services:

3, 8, 8A, 15, 23, 25, 28, 29, 29A, 36, 40, 54, 54A, 63, 127, 128, 129, 131, 154, 227, 230, 254, 256, 261, 263, 264, 267, Y.

The following have been cancelled:

15, 25, 28, 36, 40, 29, 29A, 227, 230.

Many of these contracts are the big ones Cotswold Green have.

However, Gloucestershire County Council are cutting budgets and are looking for alternative more efficient routes. There are talks of merging existing routes and creating new timetables etc.

Cotswold Green have confirmed on Facebook that many contracts are expiring at the beginning of September and so are deregistering as a matter of course. Should they be successful in retaining any of these contracts, they will register them as new services.

On the Wessex topic the Bicester Village service has been withdrawn (for the summer) it should be back in September until December but I cant see it coming back for 2017!

While in Weston-super-Mare this morning I noticed a Pointer Dart SLF out and about and wondered if First had done an unannounced repaint. It turned out to be a training vehicle for Crosville Motor Services: I noted the registration as KU02 YTY.

There may be more than one but I saw a Crossville Training Vehicle matching your description on the Cumberland Basin in Bristol of all places last week.

Forgot to mention but was passing through Bicester on Saturday and two Wessex Geminis were parked at the P&R near Bicester Village. Assume they were on some sort of RR but couldn't check them out.

Believe it or not, they work the P&R service!

I won't know how many they have got in terms of vehicles in this livery. Would be good if vehicles of their Southern National arm got repainted into the old Southern National livery though.

Meanwhile a look on the CMS website reveals this:

The VOSA depot (for the PCV test) is at Avonmouth and the Portway/Cumberland Basin is one of the standard test routes.

All very interesting from Wessex and some intriguing questions. Is the 901 being cancelled outright (another waste of time as per the 637)? What's happening with the 84/86/620? What of the 501/2 - a reflection of the impact of the 18 being extended? Replacements due or further commercial incursions?

See the predicted (by Matt) move of the 672 to Abus and the 42 to Wessex has taken place though. Also, answers a question I had ref: 82 so wonder if that is continuing as it is albeit Mon to Fri

Very interesting!

One has to wonder whether Stagecoach are playing their cards ready for Metrobust?

Also noted Abus Dart T455PRH is now in maroon and cream fleet livery.

i would expect one of the solos currently used on the 42 will be on the 672 with the other going onto the 515 and then the older solos being used as back ups.

If stagecoach has got the 82, 84 and 620, this in addition to the new services extended from dursley to berkely, wotton and bristol, will lead to stagecoach reaching significantly further south from gloucester, further south west from stroud and further west from swindon, all of which means stagecoach returns to bath and bristol

Does anybody know what Stagecoach has got? I wasnt aware that First had lost the 82. The rest of the 'new' services just look like recasts of the existing services which have brought Stagecoach into Bristol (from three directions) for more than a year now. IF Stagecoach has the 620 then Bath gets three of the big groups from September!

I'm forming a 'Bring back the 901' group right away. Our first meeting has been arranged if we can find a telephone box that takes coins and still works.
Fresh air has rights and deserves to be moved around!

the 901 gets an odd passenger! Just would of been better to build the platform at Portway P&R first of all!

I think it's a typo - it's the 84, 86 and 620. Be surprised that First didn't think about rerouting the 82 and try to get the 84 cancelled?

Been a while since Stagecoach were in Bath when they operated the 620 and X54.

Think we can come up with a replacement for the 901 - surely the Bristol Bike Workshop on Nelson Street can rustle up a tandem!!
