I think the 68s look fine but most importantly sound superb.

They also have some "proper" names as per the fantastic Warship/50 classes.

Just seen my first 2 Class 68 loco, my god, how ugly are they

Not sure this desrves its own thread, there's already a big thread about them.

Personally I think they look and sound great, better than 67s.

I love the sound and the headlights are one of a kind. The best looking loco out there in my opinion.

Not really, they actually look very modern. They sound like proper locos too.

The Class 67s and 70s look very ugly in comparison.

I think the UK version of the Eurolight loco is actually more attractive than the standard version, when seen together it appears sleeker and more streamlined with all the lumpy bits relocated within the body, it also looks longer too although this is no doubt just an illusion and it is actually the same lenth.

I'm not a big fan of modern stuff, but I think they look the business. Well proportioned, sleek but powerful, proper names and sounding good too.

It seems I'm not the only one who thinks they're ugly then. I think they sound very weak too in comparison to other locomotives.

Does a Corsa with a massive exhaust sound powerful?

The strongest voices are often softly spoken.

I don't even think they sound weak. I was at the top of the Waverley Steps could hear one that was idling at platform 20.

Indeed. Personally I don't think they sound weak, especially when hammering through Tamworth with the Crewe- Mountsorrel. They remind me a bit of Westerns.

Mind you, going down Fleshmarket Close towards the Market Street entrance, you can ear a Voyager idling on platform platform 8 when it's there. :P

But the Voyager is a tenor where the Class 68 is pure bass.

It's pretty awesome when a 68 pulls in to Solihull rather than a 168. Just a shame the speed is limited to Moor St.

They sound great when they pull away towards Snow Hill and I always stand and watch it leave. A slight revving then more power as it starts rolling to prevent the wheel slip.

They sound pretty tasty when coming off of the Castle Donington line at Stenson Junction with the loaded ballast in tow from Mountsorrel back to Crewe

I think they are probably the best modern Locos out there they look quite aggressive but really nice and they sound very meaty for a modern Loco Id say its one of the best sounding Locos
