The other half of 150248 arrived back at StPhilips Marsh today, so should see 150233 and 150248 back in their 2 car formations soon.

There's a pic of a GWR Class 387 in Green in the latest Railways Illustrated. The livery looks really smart on those units, I'm impressed.

As far as I know still no training agreement for drivers to drive these 387s so cant see how this new service could possibly start in September when no one whatsoever in LTV land has been trained......

Nice, hope to see that one out on testing sometime soon.

There's videos on Youtube of units being tested, there's a matt area on green on the body, where preumably the GWR logo is in place underneath.

Looks like they started driver training at the start of August:

How long would it typically take to train a driver on new traction. I don't believe that GWR have anything similar to Electrostars so it's probably completely new to all their staff

No, LTV did have an agreement in place however due to overwhelming pressure from drivers, it has as far as I know been withdrawn and needs to now go to a ballot amongst LTV drivers. During the week or so the agreement was originally agreed some training of I assume driver managers took place, though im not even sure if this is happening now, though I am quite prepared to stand corrected .....

London and Thames Valley. Basically GWR has never merged the three former TOCs terms and conditions, so LTV is the former Thames Trains routes.

It's not as if large numbers of trained drivers will be needed for the Hayes shuttles, is it? So if some driver managers are now trained, it seems reasonable to expect start of service from Monday.

Well I very much doubt driver managers alone will be driving these services, for one thing it isn't allowed outside of say a strike. And with no normal drivers trained up (I believe it is a 3 week course?), cant see how on earth the service will start in September.....

Whilst Driver Managers don't have daily turns, they do need to retain route and traction competency. Otherwise how do they assess drivers as part of their management role?

At least 2 drivers (not managers) are already passed out, with more to follow later this week.

Noticed a 166 at Redhill yesterday which had the mesh effect screening on one of its external doors (pictured) already deteriorating very badly.

It also had a notice on the vestibule doors leading to first class saying "Please do not use mobile phones in this compartment". Now, much though I dislike the inconsiderate use of phones, I think this is OTT - can anyone really imagine someone sitting in first not using a phone at some point? Even if passengers spot the sign on entering first, I cannot imagine a single one taking any notice of it. It seems to be an unenforceable and pointless requirement.

Are GWR sending their stock off for painting in a fixed order or are they being sent up whenever they're next due for a repaint? How far have they got through the repaints of the Networker Turbos?

All the 166s are in repainted green or blue.
165101 is in green
165102 is at Wolverton being repainted

In the case of the 150/0s, 150/2s and 165/166 fleet, the repainting into green is an adjunct to the programme to fit controlled emission toilets on sets that are staying long-term with GWR - so the order of the application of the new livery is determined by the order in which sets are sent off for this work. But the first few 166s were repainted in blue before the green livery was adopted and will presumably have to wait a while for yet another coat of paint.

The 158s already have always had toilet tanks but so far only one of these units has undergone refresh work, including a repaint.

For a progress report on GWR fleet liveries, see page 84 of this thread, where 59CosG95 has posted a recent update.
