Hello,

I will be shortly starting with GWR and will be based in Swindon. Where will the induction most likely be, and what does it involve with GWR? Is it 5 days or 3?

Thanks,
TTT

All depends on your role but the very basic company induction will probably be no more than two - three days at most. I think most induction courses are held at Paddington.

But don't quote me on that :)

Oh, and welcome aboard :D

Mine was for a couple of days and was held at Swindon. I think it is role dependent though as others who started the same day were there for the week.

BUMP - slightly off topic to my original post - anyone starting with GWR on the corporate induction starting 7th November? Look forward to meeting any of you who are!

I think Holbrook House is now the main corporate training centre.

There'll be a corporate welcome, followed by Great Experience Makers for starters; then any job specific training such as conflict management, first aid, fire safety, disability awareness, PIDD, safety & train evacuation, PTS, retail etc(which could be at other training centres).

I can confirm that Holbrook is where they do the Corporate Inductions. Mine was there, back in August. I am there every week as part of the Apprenticeship scheme so know how much is done there and most of the new intake into GWR is inducted at Holbrook.

Good luck to you too. What role and what base are you?

Swindon - Crew Delivery Manager, yourself?

What did your induction involve? And was it 3 days or 5?

I think the inductions vary in length depending on the role.

Well each are quite role specific. My induction was simply one day before training began at Holbrook House. I have completed my Station Operations training and yesterday revisited Holbrook House for the 'Effective Communication for Managers' course. As I am an Apprentice, I guess my training will be very different to that of a job with one role.
