Now that is interesting! When I last enquired of ABP [a while ago], it was suggested that the track (Southampton Western Docks) was not suitable for pax traffic. At the time it was used for container trains but I can imagine that with the increase in traffic to the two Terminals sense has prevailed! I think they were using mobile loaders to load and offload from the train in addition to Soton. FLT. The branch used to serve AC-Delco, which was originally the GM Limited assembly plant opened 70 years ago this month. My article on the opening is in the January issue of VINTAGE ROADSCENE magazine out shortly. The building has now been demolished and is a large container storage area. That might have freed-up space to enable passenger trains to run again.
