A 4-1 win for Darlo yesterday against Stalybridge Celtic who seem to be in free fall. It was a good response to the terrible showing at Lancaster last weekend that saw us dumped out of the FA cup and deprived of the very lucrative prize money that we desperately needed!

Well that would all depend on whether you supported either of the teams ivolved as league then cup games following in such a short period of time between the same two teams is pretty rare. However My main gripe is the lack of TV action for the Championship

If you got all your football news from TV you'd be forgiven for thinking that there was only one professional league in England which usually consists of around six to eight teams.

As for matters on the pitch I've seen colanders with less holes than our defence

True on yoru first point though I guess thats just the nature of the beast really. Sky should dedicate more airtime to the championship or give it to BT or somethign.

Cant be;lieve we let villa back in like that yesterday - we didnt seem to want to play in that second half

Both Aston Villa (17th) and Huddersfield Town (2nd) have only lost two of the nine league matches they have played this season.

The difference lies in number of won and drawn matches:-
Aston Villa have won one and drawn six.
Huddersfield Town have won six and drawn one.

In our "great" 43-game unbeaten run (ignoring the important game we did lose!) there were far too many draws- better to win 10 and lose 10 than draw 20...

Sam Allardyce: England manager allegations investigated by FA

BBC Sport said:
The Football Association is investigating allegations England manager Sam Allardyce used his role to negotiate a £400,000 deal and offer advice on how to "get around" rules on player transfers.

The Telegraph has footage it says is from August of Allardyce meeting men claiming to represent a Far East firm and appearing to tell them that third-party ownership rules can be avoided.

The 61-year-old has yet to respond to the allegations, while the FA has asked to see the paper's filmed recordings.

It will meet on Tuesday morning when new chairman Greg Clarke and chief executive Martin Glenn must decide whether the issue is one of poor judgement or something more serious.

Allardyce was only named England boss in July, succeeding Roy Hodgson after a disastrous European Championship campaign.

The former Sunderland boss has been in charge for just one game.

"I want all the facts, to hear everything from everyone and make a judgement about what to do," Clarke told The Times.

"Natural justice requires us to get to the bottom of the issues before we make any decision. It is not appropriate to pre-judge the issue. With things like this you have to take a deep breath."

Third-party ownership of players was banned by the FA in 2008.

During the meeting with the businessmen, who were undercover reporters, it is alleged Allardyce said it was "not a problem" to bypass the rules and he knew of agents who were "doing it all the time".

It is further alleged by the paper that a deal was struck with the England boss worth £400,000 for him to represent the company to Far East investors and to be a keynote speaker at events.

Allardyce tells the undercover reporters that any arrangement would have to be cleared by the FA.

Third-party ownership, in which investment companies take a stake in the economic rights of players, was described as a form of "slavery" by Michel Platini, the former president of European football's governing body Uefa.

World football's governing body Fifa banned the practice in May last year.

Allardyce attended the meeting with the fictitious businessmen in London along with his agent, Mark Curtis, and his financial adviser, Shane Moloney.

During the meeting he said Enner Valencia had been under a third-party ownership agreement when he signed the Ecuador forward for £12m for West Ham from Mexican club Pachuca in 2014, but that the third-party ownership ended on the transfer and the Hammers acquired the player "whole".

Curtis and Moloney have not yet responded to the allegations.

In the Telegraph recording, Allardyce also refers to predecessor Hodgson, as "Woy", referencing his speech impediment.

He also criticises former assistant coach Gary Neville - saying Hodgson should have told him to "sit down and shut up" - as well as the FA's decision to "stupidly" rebuild Wembley Stadium at a cost of £870m.

Former Blackpool, Notts County, Bolton, Newcastle, Blackburn and West Ham manager Allardyce succeeded Hodgson, who quit after England were knocked out of Euro 2016 in the last 16 by Iceland.

He has had just one game in charge of the national side - a 1-0 win over Slovakia in a 2018 World Cup qualifier earlier this month.

He is due to name his squad on Sunday for the forthcoming World Cup qualifiers, including his first Wembley match in charge against Malta on 8 October (17:00 BST kick-off).

Former England international Chris Waddle told BBC Radio 5 live that Allardyce had been "naive" and was now in a difficult position.

He added: "They are only allegations but if true he will do well to keep his job. Hopefully there's nothing at the end of it and he continues."

It is not the first time allegations have been made against Allardyce following an investigation by journalists. A BBC Panorama programme in 2006 contained claims by an agent who said he had paid bungs to the then-Bolton boss.

Allardyce vehemently denied the claims and a subsequent FA investigation found no evidence of wrongdoing.

I don't think he has anything to answer to, I came across the full transcript earlier. He told them he'd have to run anything past the FA first.
When they asked about bungs he called them idiots and ended the conversation
Third party ownership was purely stating fact on what he knew. The FA will investigate and this will see repercussions wherever he is referring to.

Funny how this wasn't mentioned...

Highest ever win ratio of any permanent England manager! Let's see which struggling premier league team sack their manager this week now.

Gareth Southgate appointed temporary manager for at least the next 4 matches. Trial for the full time job?

Once again, the media when not making totally unrealistic statements about the chances of the England team actually winning anything of note, now decide to use their resources into making the role of England manager a poisoned chalice that no one in their right mind would likely to accept.

Perhaps the media could nominate one of their own as England manager....:D

100% record though. Best, and bentest England manager ever.

Harry Redknapp knows a thing or two about agents, let's get him....should be fun.

English football is the pits.

The BBC are touting Steve Bruce  we really are scraping the barrel.

Gareth Southgate confirmed as manager for October and November internationals. He's a current favourite puppet of the FA, so I half expect him to stay longer.

The Daily Telegraph's cartoonist Matt was obviously tipped off about the story because his cartoon today had two footballers, one saying to the other 'The manager's brought shame on English football. That's the players' job'.

Incidentally, no-one reading the full story in the Telegraph today, complete with 'stills' from the undercover video, would be in any doubt that the greedy fool would be out of a job before the day was out.

The telegraph released the story at 2200 last night, their staff obviously would have known in advance to produce such artwork

Today's Daily Telegraph piece is the first in a whole series this week which will delve into the cancerous underbelly of English football.

Wantage Town 0...Winchester City 1 (Feeney 63)

Winchester City notched up their first away win of the season in the King Alfred derby. After having a goal ruled out for offside in the first half, they broke the deadlock in the second when Howard Neighbour's cross was headed back by Joey Briggs for Craig Feeney to volley into the net. A trio of cup games beckon, starting with an FA Cup tie at Harrow Borough.

Other Results:

AFC Totton 1...Wimborne Town 6 (SIX)

Bishops Cleeve 1...Swindon Supermarine 4

Evesham United 3...Yate Town 1

Huddersfield Town 2 - 1 Rotherham United

The Terriers return to the top of the Championship table after 10 games (often said to be the time when the standings become vaguely meaningful) as we maintain our 100% home record and our 100% record in Yorkshire Derbies... should really have been over the hills and far away by half time, but our inability to ever be more than a goal ahead continues. Rotherham came back into it late on as they chased a second equaliser, better teams may punish us if we continue to be incapable of turning possession and half-chances into goals. Anything other than a Norwich win at Newcastle on Wednesday night will see us staying top.

bentest England manager ever

Nah, he's not even the bentest England manager this decade.

Bradford City won 2-1 against Fleetwood last night, third in the table and only one of four teams in the league pyramid to remain unbeaten (the others being Carlisle, Man City and the Spuds).
