A superb 4-1 win for Darlo on Saturday v Harrgoate Town who were unbeaten at home until that point. We were really good and could easily have scored more. Josh Gillies was the best player on the park and Dave Syers looked really good in the middle alongside Turnbull.

Second in the league, one point of Fylde who are top!

City playing magnificently against Barca, 3-1.

I concur. In fact its been a magnificent game of football, as open a game of football as you could ever see.

Arsenal take the lead. This is proving to be a very good night for the English teams in the European Cup. PSG only drawing.

Shock of night result came at Boundary park. ;)

Oldham 2-0 Scunthorpe

Oldham win for first time at home since April (in league) and beat top of table leaders, after seeing Oldham tonight they don't look side that current in bottom 4 but overhand Scunthorpe were poor and look more like mid table team then top of table.

Not really a shock considering the way we played that night :( Mind you, the return fixture on the 19th Nov should be interesting, especially as Scunthorpe have scored 23 goals at home so far this season, in only 8 matches (cup games excluded). :P

Evo Stik First Division North

Saturday, 29th October

Ossett Town 1...Hyde United 1

Tuesday, 2nd November

Radcliffe Borough 4...Hyde United 0

Hyde, once again, gain only a single point from two successive away games and this leaves them down in 16th position in the league.

Barcelona are nothing special. The front three are superb but paper over some of the cracks. Defensively they can be got at if teams don't panic and beat themselves. They are ageing and several of the players cant be replaced easily if at all.

Plus I doubt they like it up em. And Messi never tracks back. And he is rubbish running a channel. And he cant hold the ball up like, say, Jon Walters. Overrated.

Jose is an idiot; even when he is not on the pitch.

Lets have it about Frank de Boer. He got players he did not ask for. His squad was so huge; he had a second 11 players and still than players left. The players are old and not willing to do what the coach want. Frank de Boer should never have chosen this team.

Getting £30 Million for MOussa Sissoko might be the best bit of business we've ever done. No surprise that he looks like he can't be bothered and way out of his depth, was the same with us.

FIFA indicate England Wales and Scotland will not be allowed to wear poppy armbands during the next international sequence of international games. Their rules prohibit the wearing of political, religious and/or commercial items on players outfits.

Rightly the FA and SFA have told FIFA to do one and indicate they will wear a poppy and hang the consequences.

I'm going to the England v Scotland match next Friday, will be interesting to know what happens, FIFA should say what sanctions will occur against ENgland and Scotland if they do wear armbands with poppies

If you can keep him fit, Dave Syers is far too good for that level. Excellent for Scunny three years ago when they were promoted, and maybe a bit unlucky not to get a contract offer at Rochdale after his loan spell last year.

Glad to see Darlo (hopefully) on the up again, particularly if it results in casual cloutings for FC Unwashed of Moston and a continuance of the descent of Altrincham...<(

It isn't a political, religious or commercial message. Take the sanction and appeal as high as necessary.

In other supports world rugby has been 'highly supportive' of England and Wales request to have a poppy symbol on their kits over remembrance weekend Accordinh to England Rugby's CEO

I like the way that Theresa May ended her comments on the matter at PMQT that FIFA should be looking to put their own house in order first.

Champions League....Group E

Tottenham Hotspur 0...Bayer 04 Leverkusen 1

After four matches played in this group stage, Tottenham have now lost both their "home" matches that were played at Wembley and this result now sees then in third place in the group, two points adrift.

There will be consequences of defying FIFA - likely to be a sufficient points deduction to prevent any of the offending countries from qualifying for the next World Cup. Given the current hostility to Russia in the UK, it will provide a convenient excuse for UK teams to avoid going to the 2018 tournament.

If one is a member of a club, one can challenge the rules, but once a decision is made, one has to abide by it if one wishes to remain a member of the club.

However other countries, like Eire, have been allowed to wear what could be considered overt political symbols on their shirts. (They recently wore an emblem to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the Easter rising as shown below taken from the linked Belfast Telegraph article)

Also when the body preaching about rules is FIFA surely one is obliged not to follow their lead ;)

Syers looks top class and hasa goal a game since signing. He has turned his back on the pro game and has a career as, I think, an accountant. He, like Gilles and Turnbull alongside him, look like they are playing a different game.

They only wore those shirts in friendly games. They wouldn't have been able to wear them in any UEFA or FIFA game as both organisations ban the use or political or religious symbols.

Are Friendlies not FIFA/UEFA sanctioned?

Sent from my SM-J320FN using Tapatalk

They are played under UEFA/FIFA rules unless otherwise stated. Those not played under UEFA/FIFA rules the players participating don't qualify for a "cap"

Perhaps England and Scotland should wear armbands with a dollar sign on them?

edit: Also refuse to pay any fine FIFA may impose, now that would be interesting

I do believe if the home nations appealed any sanction through courts/ sport arbitration they would be successful, as the poppy is none of the three forbidden types of symbol specified in the laws of the game,

After losing 2-1 away to Fenerbahce S.K. last night in the Europa League group stage match (a side they beat 4-1 in the home match), it would appear to be the commitment of the Manchester United players this time, with the team now in third place in the group table.

Incidentally, the goals for and against of the teams in this group stage league table look very strange after four matches played, with the top team showing a minus figure.

Jose is good at keeping runs going. Be that good ones or bad ones.

He doesn't ever seem to fix a bad run, and every team has sacked him during a bad run, so we've never seen him fix one, as they've always been really bad runs. Normally those bad runs come in his third season.
