It is okay to give away a large quantity of railway magazines on here.
They are my late dads collection and seems a shame to throw away to if anyone would like them and can collect they are welcome to them.
There are lots dating from 1960's to august this year.
collection is from Tamworth or birmingham which ever would be closer for who wants them

If no one asks for them, donating to a charity shop like Scope or Oxfam, might be a good idea to avoid throwing.

I know have asked already on other posting..But would be useful if you could indicate the titles, and condition...Charity shops by the way would bin them ,as magazines of any sort are a no no now....Frankly in some cases no books either,or sell them on for pennies to the local book seller/s,as they do in the Fylde/Blackpool area

If you haven't already disposed of them, and you probably have, I'd second donating them to a preserved railway. I gave a huge pile to the KWVR a couple of years ago, mostly steam era or modelling.

Not only are you helping keep a line running, they're the only places such magazines are likely to re-sell to people who want them.

WARNING-- I am aware of two heritage railways that now refuse them as they receive piles of magazines and cannot sell them. They then waste time (and expenditure) taking them to the nearest recycling centre or charity shop.
If you have a large quantity of magazines please first contact the nearest heritage railway to see whether they will accept them.

Clapper you mention KWVR...To clarify its the Vintage Carriage Trust @Ingrow ,who deal in rail mags...They do take all railmags ,they make the decision if it is for the shelves or for the paper man..They are organised in that respect.

Might point out that some individuals like myself could be interested in rail mags, but are somewhat more selective...To be honest the majority of rail mags have no value as they are of news variety such as Rail,Heritage rail etc..Its the historical ones that can have value, the more niche the better.

Isn't it fair to say that all 'main stream' transport magazines are worth nothing at all second-hand nowadays ? There's just far too much available, and hardly anybody interested in acquiring them.

The only what you could call mainstream rail mags that have some value are Backtrack,Steam Days,BRILL ,Railway Byelines ....News mags such as Steam Railway,Rail,Heritage Railway,Modern Railways are without value, except as copies in last 12 months....The one rail mag,a part work that does have value is Modern Locomotives Illustrated ,in particular those published by Ian Allan,ie No's 171 to 202,which are worth serious money.....
