While waiting for a train today, I was stood on the concourse and, looking though the glass, watched another service come in.
As it was pulling in to the platform, I noticed that one of the cantrail lights was flashing. It was formed of 2x395, and the light in question was on the rear coach of the leading unit.
When it was stopped, I couldn't see the 'offending' coach, but the other lights that I could see came on as usual, the doors opened and closed as usual, the lights went off as usual and the train left as usual.
So what would cause a cantrail light to flash?

Is it standard on all stock for a coach with an activated passcomm to have the hazard light flash or is it confined to stock manufactured by Hiatchi?

Err...."ahem".... "BR" sliding door stock the hazard light will be on solid where a passcom has been pulled donr knkw if this is the case for CDL stock tho. Guess I will find out when we finally get the mk3's. The hazard lights will of course also be on when the doors have been released but again these will be on solid. So of course the TMS can be a friend here and will tell you which passcomm has been pulled, assuming of course you havent been locked out above 5 mph!

Spoiler, it doesn't ;)

Unless they do a mod when they are being fiddled with at Plymouth if you get a suspected passcom activation on a Mk3 get running pronto. If you can't find it before all the air has drained from the valve (that noise is your only clue to where it is) then you have a slow walk looking for the pulled passcom (6 per coach I think).

Have fun!

The light flashes like mad on the Networkers when the egress handle is pulled.

I also saw all four lights flashing together on an Electrostar once. Just sitting there at Victoria, flashing away. I never found out why.
