I think Paul talked himself out of the Boardroom and into the Taxi.

That Francis losing seven times and survived plus that creep Sofian

His number must be up soon

Alana on the winning team !!!

I'm afraid I was back to using the fast forward button again through much of the task. Week 8 and still there's unprofessional bickering going on. Looking at the remaining candidates I can't see a single one that you would trust with £250,000 of your own money. Nearly every winning team has had at least one member that avoided cocking things up only to get it wrong again within a week or two. Last week Frances looked good but slipped back again this week thus leaving Alana with the halo. Sofiane has survived because Sugar always has a soft spot for a wide boy as they remind him of his younger self.

I have ended up watching a few of these as my brother insists on doing similar - absolutely hopeless, the lot of them. Right one went this week...I thought his time for numbered when he went on a charge of talking over everyone!

I was waiting for Paul to get up and assault someone, maybe even Sugar. Now that would have made for a more interesting programme.

Agreed, it's about time someone chinned the midget :p

Ah well the first Double Firing......

Sofians luck finally ran out and Dylans blarney failed to save him.

Alana once again sneaks through without even facing the boardroom:p

Anyone now going to predict a winner? Frances or Gronya (?) I'd have thought, but Jessica might be a good outside bet. The sole remaining guy won't win, surely?

What an episode, so glad that Sofian has finally left, with Dylan as collateral, I won't miss either of them.

If I had to bet, I'd bet Trishna to win, she's pretty smart, and she easily won a technology challenge, which her business plan is. Jessica and Frances will fall apart in the interviews, Alana just isn't strong enough (despite her being my favourite). Courtney is pretty good, I'd put him in the final and 2nd place.

It does appear that performance during the process is far less of a factor with the new investment/business partnership prize than it was when the prize was a job in one of Sugar's companies. Looking over the Wiki pages of the previous series, the stats are pretty telling...

Robinson's Apprentice Stat Attack

Considering only series 1-6 (prize was a job):

None of the 6 winners had an inferior track record to the runner-up they beat in the final, in terms of overall wins/losses.

None of the winners had the worst track record out of all the Final Five.

Only Simon Ambrose finished with fewer wins than one or more candidates who didn't actually get to the Final Five stage.

All 6 winners won as PM at least as many times as they lost. Saira Khan is the only runner-up from the same period to have lost more than she won.

Saira, Ansell Henry and James McQuillan are the only 3 candidates from all the first 6 series to have made the Final Five without winning as PM.

All 6 winners stepped up (or were appointed) as PM more than once; Kate Walsh is the only runner-up from the same period who failed to do so.

Considering only the winners from series 7 onwards (the business partner winners):

Joseph Valente is the only one of the 5 winners thus far who has at least equalled the track record of their respective runner-up.

Joseph and Ricky Martin are the only 2 from the 5 who didn't have the worst overall track record from the Final Five.

Ricky is the only winner to finish with at least as many wins overall as every single candidate who didn't get to the Final Five stage. Of the current crop, Frances, Grainne and Jessica can mathematically no longer do so this time around, whilst Alana and Trishna can still do so, but only if they win the next task and Courtney avoids dismissal.

Joseph and Leah Totton are the only 2 who got at least as many wins as PM as losses, not including the final (and even then, in Leah's case it was 1 win from her only shot at the job, having been appointed by Sugar rather than actually volunteering herself). (Interestingly enough, Vana Koutsomitis is the only runner-up from the same period to have finished with a losing record as PM, and one of the runners-up, Helen Milligan, managed a record-equalling 3-0 winning record.)

Every series from series 7 onwards has so far seen someone make it to the Final Five without winning as PM (indeed, in series 7, there were 2 candidates who managed that). This series will also do so unless either Grainne or Jessica gets a win as PM in the 1 remaining task and the other one gets fired.

Winners Tom Pellereau, Leah and Mark Wright and runners-up Bianca Miller and Vana all only had 1 shot as PM - again, not including the final.

Bottom line: I haven't watched a single episode this series but my guess is probably as good as yours as to who wins!

Glad to see that Trishna go..mouthy cow :p

However I believe Sugar should have set a precedent and fired one of the winning team..namely Courtnay

That presentation he did was pathetic...

He's last man standing but I don't hold out much faith for a "Male Win"

Anyone else feel it would be sensational if he fired one of the winners ?

It would render the show pointless. Why bother with tasks if their outcome has no bearing on the selection process? You might just as well replace the series with a one-off two-hour show with all initial candidates going through the "Claude & Co." interview panels. I agree that a female winner looks a certainty but who will hold their nerve...

Nah, the whole point is that if you win you're safe. Otherwise why bother winning?

The closest he'll come to that was what he did earlier in the series when he decided both teams were so bad that they both lost.

I've been watching the series although I haven't posted in this thread until now.

It has become a weekly occurrence for me to ring Mum the day after the show to laugh about how badly they did. This week we had Courtney being unable to get his words out in the pitches and sounding unenthusiastic, Francis trying her best to get hold of her team mates but they'd left the phone in the other room and were getting drunk, the uncreative name of Giin and the coloring from natural products... food coloring.

They are all useless really. They fail to listen to each other and professional advice, perform poorly in pitches and are frequently downright unprofessional. I think it would be between Francis or Alana to win, although the former has lost many tasks and I'm not sure if the latter is a strong enough character. They are the best of the bunch though imh.

I don't think it'd be a bad idea at all. It seems unfair for a team to win, sometimes by a small margin, and all of there errors to be forgotten about while small errors of the loosing team are scrutinised and candidates fired over it. It shouldn't be a regular thing, but if it happened once or twice in a series if a candidate on the winning team performed particularly poorly, I don't think it'd be a bad thing.

Glad someone agrees - it needs a new dimension :p

Just watch the earlier series on You Tube and see how boring and staid it has become

Seems more relevant now than ever (albeit the prize has changed).

I ended up watching again this week - from the bits they showed I felt sorry for both Frances and Alana. Frances had the problems of her team being uncontactable to sort out critical details of the packaging and I don't think Alana had much support from that team either

I'd have fired Trishna and Grainne. At any job I can think of, ignoring your colleagues whilst you get p***** would be a firing offence.

But I suppose they need five for the interviews.

How long can an interview last with these five? I doubt any of them have enough credentials to speak for more than a few seconds.

Yes, I similarly felt sorry for them. Trishna certainly needed to go: not only getting drunk with Grainne but also he rather foul mood on the second day of the task.

We did have a candidate a couple of years ago who was sent out of the interview by Claude within a minute of entering. If I recall the flustered candidate then started walking the wrong way to get out!

There was also Jordan Poulton who got thrown out the series before that...

Exactly how much more irrelevant do you want the process to become?

As my analysis showed, the candidates' track record is far less of an issue in the interviews now than it was with the previous prize. Also, this series we're going to have a Final Five in which 2 of them have failed to win as PM during the process, and with Frances setting a new record for fewest wins ever for a Final Five candidate.

You're making a big assumption regarding Final Five - I suspect multiple will go from the interviews and we will be left with two in the final

What are you talking about? The "Final Five" here refers to the 5 who are in the interview round...

Watched the Final Five Program which was quite interesting, giving some background to the remaining candidates.

Personally I wish there was a "swimsuit round" and i don't mind the boys in trunks either to even it out.

I would like to see Alana's figure a little more closely as sometimes she appears chunky and other times quite slim.

What about little Frances being married to a pro-footballer as well :p

I think I saw somewhere that Frances used to be a model too?

Without seeing the Final Five programme, or having the faintest idea which business plan will be torn to shreds (maybe all of them) I'm going for Alana or Frances to win, on the basis they got this far while seeming to be on a losing team a lot of the time.
