Grauniad/Guardian said:
The actor Carrie Fisher, best known for her portrayal of Princess Leia in the Star Wars films, has died after suffering a heart attack.

The news was confirmed on Tuesday evening in a statement released on behalf of her daughter Billie Lourd.

Lourd’s publicist said: “It is with a very deep sadness that Billie Lourd confirms that her beloved mother Carrie Fisher passed away at 8.55 this morning. She was loved by the world and she will be missed profoundly. Our entire family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers.”

Perhaps I shouldn't be saying this, but my reaction to finding this out was 'oh god not another one'. Her loss is a great one for the movie world.

I only know her from The Blues Brothers (1980).

She looked HOT in Star Wars. I'm sorry to hear that she has died; 60 is no age.

I have to say that, although I'd heard of her, I'd never knowingly seen her until the Graham Norton Show earlier in the month, and I have to say I was surprised to see she was only 60 - I'd have guessed 70 to 75 based on that show, so maybe she was already ill.

Well kids, don't do drugs or alcohol.

Such a shame, RIP.

It would be very fitting and appropriate if the next Star Wars film was dedicated to her memory.

What will this mean for the two more Starwars movies they are yet to make, and are meant to have her in them?

#1, They could change the script and write her character out of it.

#2, Do the landmark work done in the current release 'The rouge one' where they had a dead actor come back to life for that. Using images of the original actor of that, in New Hope, to do a life like regeneration of the same actor in The Rouge one. Could we see Carrie Fisher come back in that way?

She was also on the 8 out of 10 Cats Christmas Special. Apparently she took ill on a flight flying back to the US after completing her promotional tour in the UK.

I know nothing about her so I had a zero estimation of her worth.

Sad to say my estimation of her worth fell when a friend of hers laughingly announced on TV how she had used her wealth and privilege to have her pet bulldog classified as an assistance dog so that it could travel in first class on an airliner.

Tricks like that lower the value of assistance dogs in everyone's eyes, just like abuse of the blue badge parking scheme does.

I was shocked to hear of her death. As a massive fan of Star Wars I found it difficult to beleive.

I know she was seriously ill in hospital following her heat attack but somehow I thought she would pull through and that Grim would not get his hands on her. Sadly I was wrong, and sadly 2016 has taken yet another legend of the entertainment industry away from us.

RIP Carrie Fisher, the Force will be with you. Always

This has had a ridiculous amount of coverage on all the main TV channels. Okay so a celeb has passed away, which needs reporting, but really...

Seems a bit red to me ;)

I see that her mother, Debbie Reynolds, has now also been admitted to hospital

US actress Debbie Reynolds has been taken to hospital, the day after death of her daughter Carrie Fisher.
Celebrity news site TMZ reported that she may have had a stroke.
The Hollywood screen legend, 84, is best known for her starring role in 1952 musical Singin' in the Rain, alongside Gene Kelly.
Fisher - renowned for her role as Princess Leia in the Star Wars series - died on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest on a plane.
Ms Reynolds posted a statement about her daughter's death on Facebook on Tuesday: "Thank you to everyone who has embraced the gifts and talents of my beloved and amazing daughter. I am grateful for your thoughts and prayers that are now guiding her to her next stop."
