I've been looking to plan a train-only journey (no underground), between Waterloo and Waterloo East.
So far, all websites I've looked at are no help. One even suggested starting at waterloo, going to Clapham, going back to waterloo and then walking.

So, if you can suggest a train journey from one waterloo station to the other, that would be greatly appreciated. I'm fully aware that this journey is completely pointless.

(On another note: I'm new! Hello!)

The shortest route entirely by rail would I think be Waterloo - Clapham Junction - Peckham Rye - London Bridge - Waterloo East.

Waterloo, Clapham Junction, Victoria, Dartford or Petts Wood, Hither Green, Cannon St, Lewisham, Ladywell, Waterloo East. No doubling back if you choose the right trains and all doable on Oyster too :)

Hello.

I like pointless things too...

Have you tried planning off a map. The National Rail Enquiries site has several.

If the OP doesn't mind using other modes of transport as well how about:

Waterloo-Portsmouth Harbour-Ryde Pier Head-Smallbrook Junction-Wooton-Newport-Yarmouth-Lymington Pier-Brockenhurst-Weymouth-Bristol-Edinburgh-Glasgow-Milton Keynes-Clapham Jn-Peckham Rye-London Bridge-Waterloo East

Why stop at Edinburgh when you could go to Aberdeen and Inverness, then back to Glasgow?

What would an Oyster card make of this? If you didn't use any mid journey validators, you woyld presumably get two incomplete journeys.

Not necessarily, provided you didn't exceed the maximum journey time for a Zone 1 journey.

Waterloo - Clapham Junction - East croydon (Or Wimbledon) then Thameslink to St Pancras. HS1 to Ashford. Then to Waterloo East on a Charing Cross service.

Make a weekend of it (assuming you've a valid passport)! :D

Waterloo > Clapham Junction > Stratford > Harwich International >** Hoek van Holland Haven > Rotterdam Centraal > Brussels Midi >* Ashford International > Waterloo East

** ferry
