No sea spray topping the wall at the back of Penzance Bus Station? You missed the best conditions.:)

Yes I experienced that. On my train in at 0915 it was over the top of the train. Trains were picking /dropping a couple of network rail pilots at marazion just beyond the road bridge,

33458 and 33461 already showing off their battle wounds!

Lovely buses though, and a much nicer spec clearly versus stagecoach versions in Devon

Dart 43860 was on the 18 earlier today, the first time I have ever seen an ex Jersey Dart on this service.

It was still on it this afternoon. I was at Penzance bus station at about 4 p.m. getting the new timetable for the Tinner services, and it drew up to the stand, heading for Truro.

On the subject of the Tinner services, apparently it was the official launch day, according to the BBC website for Devon and Cornwall. A shame they listed the two services as being from Truro to Hayle via Redruth and Camborne, and from St Ives to Penzance respectively!

I was also warned in the Pz Enquiry Office that the Tinner timetable leaflets have got the timings garbled on Sat morning early journeys from St Erth to Pz.

Do the new MMCs on the Tinner routes allow contactless card payments? I thought it was only the Park and Ride routes in Bristol that were trialling and allowing contactless card payments, but I've heard that it is available on the Tinner buses.

I saw 43860 heading west through Camborne around 3pm. On the journey you mention it was taken off at Camborne and replaced by a E400 MMC.

Volvo coach 20803 is at Camborne.

Not contactless as yet in Cornwall. Apparently that will be 'drekly'
Cornwall always seems to be the last to get updated ticket machines, etc, so don't hold your breath. Radio Cornwall also put out the contactless bit as well. Think someone in the PR department didn't check their wording before being released to the media.
They also said the Tinner was running between St Ives and Penzance (which it isn't of course).

.

But then you'd have rubbished the idea of 30 new buses being delivered to Cornwall wouldn't you...

I think most people would even 12 months ago but fair play what a great turnaround. I bet you are still smiling.

The thirty buses are just one part of project Kernow. We're used to people being cynical about our plans and ambitions, but are happy for the proof of the pudding to be in the eating...

The contactless idea should work well. I think just the idea that Kernow has got new buses is enough to bring passengers on. Don't think you even have to mention contactless yet for a few years after people have got over the surprise of new buses :)

Are we likely to see any further new investment in the next few years or will it just be cascades?

Being able to replace about 15% (?) of your Kernow fleet with about 10% of the First new vehicle intake for 2016/17 is proof enough. I will sit back and await the next chapter with interest.

This afternoon I had the joy of one of KERNOW's 'the tinner' MMC's from Truro down to Redruth which when I got there the sun was shining quite brightly for a brief second which showed off the fab red livery a treat :) Also waiting in Redruth was former Fal River Trident 33112 which also looked stunning in the KERNOW green, luckily it was on the 37 bound for The Lizard where I was heading for today altho you wouldn't have known that standing next to it as the side blind can't be working as its been covered off completely. Talking of not working the heater on 33112 wasn't working today either, there were even people on the bus saying it was warmer outside! certainly felt like it! The poor driver you could see the mist of his breath as he was shivering in his cab! luckily we changed buses when we got back to Helston as I think the driver & us passengers had suffered enough! What a real shame considering Kernow have done such a good job of painting that bus in the new green and yet they can't fix something simple like the heater which at this time of year surely wouldn't be too much to ask!

To be fair, that sort of investment in Kernow is unprecedented. The FSW team should be applauded for coming up with the business plan to achieve that, as well as the transformation of the business over the last 2-3 years.

To echo others, I look forward to the business continuing to grow and develop in two areas that are traditionally less than lucrative.

Hopefully, you'll be able to share that information as and when you can.

They are 15 years old so hardly young.

Exactly this. They're 2002 vehicles, which makes them some of the oldest single decks in the FK fleet. They're being advertised for £6k + vat from the dealer, so in FK's position I would say they're just not worth keeping on now the DDA malarkey is done and dusted, and with a big investment program in newer vehicles allowing cascades and transfers.

Maybe it had just broken?
