Irish Sea

(16) If you journeyed the Japanese Bullet train in which country would you be taking your holiday?

Depends, if you're referring to the Shinkansen, then Japan, but that would be too obvious.
It could be the 395, as the style is considered to be similar to the Shinkansens, and is also Japanese, so could be England.

Sat at the control desk of 370666...
(10) At which London station do trains from Reading terminate?
Waterloo/Paddington
And occasionally Clapham Jct too, if Wessex Control have fallen asleep at the signals panel again...

(12) Which station recently made headline news with a 'kissing ban'?
Warrington Bank Quay
Everyone else has been saying Warrington, but I heard about it on the radio the other day - And I'm sure that I heard Wigan Westgate being announced as the station in question...
Although I am known for having a really crap memory! ;)

(13) Why was the Weymouth harbour branch unique in the UK?
It ran through the street to the coast
Actually, I'd refute that as being unique. Although not really a public line, there used to be a similar "on-road" branch running from just west of Farnborough Main that connected the BSML with the Royal Aircraft Establishment site.
The spur ran from the BSML, along Elm Grove Road at grade, then across Farnborough to the RAE site. Although the line has been pulled up/buried now, some evidence of the spur still remains at the Northern end of Elm Grove Road. <D

Addendum:
Looking at the Google satellite imagery for Weymouth, it would appear that the line to Weymouth Harbour is not only still there, but it's still legally provided for as a workable rail route! Follow the line as it runs along the immediate left of the large building on This map - It may prove a little difficult to follow on that map, but the road bridge over the line (Clearly built recently) does imply that the line is still considered a functional, usable path by the DaFT and Notwork Fail...:D

(16) If you journeyed the Japanese Bullet train in which country would you be taking your holiday?
Japan
My answer: Gjorvik (York) - Although it wouldn't be moving, there is a 0-series Shinkansen on permanent display in the NRM...

(1) There is no such station as Wigan Westgate - there is a Wigan Wallgate tho. Nevertheless your wrong because the answer IS Warrington Bank Quay.

(2) The Weymouth Harbour branch was unique because of passenger street ruuning services. Other street running services do exist such as parts of Trafford Park and indeed parts of the Ribble Steam Railway.

*Note/ There are plans to rip up tracks as part of Weymouths modernisation scheme.

(3) If you journeyed the Japanese bullet train you would be in Japan. This was a daft question to give everyone a chance of getting at least 1 correct answer.

The Japanese bullet train at the NRM is essentially a static exhibit and thus you can't 'journey' it.

I do enjoy your dry sense of humour though so thaks for taking part and please feel free to try some more questions!
