Hello. On Twitter I like to read the account of Piers Morgan. In no way do I relate to him or his views. But he is very outspoken and sometimes it just nice to witness all the arguments that he gets involved in. I accept he's divisive and a bit of a idiot.

Today he posted a photo of dead children from the Syria gas attack yesterday. I won't post a link as it's quite graphic.

Bearing in mind some people may follow him solely for football or to hear his ridiculous views. Do people think there is any journalistic merit in posting these photos to raise awareness?

Or is it just shock tactics and a form of attention seeking?

His general Twitter link is:

Shock tactics, but this situation needs shock tactics.

People have been looking away from Syria for too long, because too many politicians are too scared of standing up to Vladimir Putin, who is causing most of this trouble.

Of course Morgan wanted Trump- with all his links to Putin- to be President...

Morgan has a reputation for publishing dubious images. Remember when he knowingly published those hoax abuse images from Iraq?

I do like the arguments he has with Lord Sugar although they do always seem a bit one sided ;) nice to see a looser loosing.
Plus his reaction to Piers Morgan's charitable act of rais 5k and I'll shut up for a day made me laugh.

But in all fairness Piers Morgan is a wholly unlikeable fellow who give scum a bad name (sorry just had to get that of my chest).

Ha. I don't like him. But I can't stop going back to his Twitter......aghhhh.

His stance re Trump is also very bizarre. He asserts that he wouldn't have voted for him. Yet his Twitter account seems to be an ad campaign for his presidency. He seems quite a disingenuous person.

However I'd still rate piers Morgan above Katie Hopkins in terms of likeability.

They are both reprehensible creatures, not even worthy of the title 'scum' and among the worst this country has to offer. My hatred for them both knows no bounds. I will coincide that Hopkins is just that little bit more of a reprehensible human being, but not by much.

I've unfortunately seen the video as it was shared via a Facebook friend and don't believe there is anything dubious about it. Shame that it takes someone like Piers Morgan rather than the usual mainstream media outlets to post them - there didn't seem to be a problem posting the drowned Syrian boy on the beach so why are mainstream media not posting these?

No; not shocking. It should shock however. You know what the UN ambassador of the USA said a few days ago. Removing Assad from power is not an issue. Well maybe; they get a different view! Assad; having friends in Russia is valueable! Blocking all vetoes from the UN.

The danger is that removing Assad will cause more problems than it will solve, it is too risky (in terms of both internal conflicts, regional balance and international conflicts).

That's aside from the assumption that the Assad government is responsible; some gases (especially chlorine) are easily synthesised with minimal chemical knowledge and readily available chemicals and methods.

Well given Assad has already used sarin against his own people plus countless chlorine uses its not exactly a stretch.

As to "just" removing Assad that worked so well with Saddam and Gadaffi I see no reason it wouldn't have exactly the same impact...

Agree wholeheartedly with this post, every section of the media were fighting to get the biggest and 'best' spread with that image on it but, when it comes to a 'celebrity' whatever he is, it becomes a different matter altogether, personally I couldn't care less if Morgan and twitter disappeared for ever but it seems he has to be attacked because he's some sort of pantomime baddie

The differences in the toxidrome between chlorine and sarin are fairly wide.

I don't particularly like Piers Morgan. I think he is vain, attention seeking and normally rather shallow*.

But he is a human being, with his faults, like all of us, and labelling him as scum, or beneath scum is not acceptable in my book. It is a dangerous road to go down, dehumanising people you don't like.

* Having said that, there was one show on CNN where he showed significant levels of humanity. It must have been ten years ago or so, and he had two US Army women on the show, both of whom had been raped by fellow army personnel (or so they claimed - and I believed them from their body language - absolutly no pun intended.) It was actually a very moving set of interviews IMO.

The FT had a photo on its front page - not sure if you count that as mainstream.
