The Ecclesbourne Valley Railway will be operating its extensive collection of DMU vehicles at the 2017 Multiple Memories Gala on 13th/14th May.

The weekend will feature an hourly timetable with 2 train working and trains crossing at Shottle, also an evening Fish & Chip Special.

I see East Midlands Trains will also be loaning a 153.

Interesting question: does the EVR have an EMT driver among its volunteers, or will they have to find someone who signs them and provide a pilot? I understand it will be making some journeys, not just a static exhibit.

EMT will supply a driver, so I suppose EVR will provide a pilotman.

One other unusual item will be tucked away on site, though not on general public display: a former Blackpool tram, converted to battery power and present on a testing contract for a new design of self steering bogie with stub axles. Ask for one of the yard tours.

Two EMT Driver's for the Saturday, and two on the Sunday (Of which I am lucky enough to be one!)

Are the two drivers both for the 153, if so, why does it require two?

Just out of interest :D

No operational reason. Purely to break the day up so one Driver is not snowed under with PR and driving. We're doing it on a voluntary basis so it makes sense to have two so we can enjoy the day as well.

Fair enough, that makes sense, I'll give you both a wave :D

I'll try to get a photo or two of the 153.

It all seems to have gone very well in the end, many thanks to all who took part especially the EMT personnel. Delivery of the 153 was a little fraught - the low loader broke down on the way and the unit went through the middle of Wirksworth at closing time. Hopefully the delivery of 3F No.47406 tomorrow will go smoothly.

We were made very welcome by all the EVR staff and had a great day. Many thanks to all, especially for the ECS run on a 101. Been a while since I had a play on a blue square!
