It's already being worked on, judging by the view from my train the other day.

Very dependant on getting Foundry junction in and the signalling alterations. Rumours that the platform will need temporary extensions as the track wont be slewed at opening.

That is poor it would make a lot of sense to get the track to a really good line and level, and then set the platforms out from that.

Any further news on this? If anyone could take a picture of the station under construction and add it to Flickr or somewhere else then I will add it to the wikipedia page, which could do with an idea of how the station will look like.

see http://www.leamingtoncourier.co.uk/...on-costs-likely-to-go-up-by-373-000-1-8004350
The cost to build Kenilworth Station is likely to go up by £373,000, Warwickshire County Council has confirmed.
The council's cabinet is expected to ask the full council to use money
from its contingency budget after the delayed completion date of
December 2017 meant costs went up.
Costs increased because the delay meant project management and
consultation costs went up. Another risk analysis was also needed, which
added further costs to the bill.
The cabinet will make a decision on the recommendation on Thursday June
16, but it is highly likely the council will want the extra money to be
spent. A final decision will be made by full council on Tuesday July 18.
Assuming the council decide to use the money, the final cost for the
project will be up to £13.6 million.

A spokesman for the county council said they will release a statement
pending the outcome of the full council meeting in July.

In her report to the cabinet, council officer Hannah Collett said: The
scheme is anticipated to generate substantial benefits to the town and
to the wider sub-region.

It is expected that the new station and train service will
significantly enhance rail access for the residents of Kenilworth and
time savings to existing and new rail passengers, as well as support the
economic development of the sub-region.

Once up and running, the station will operate an hourly shuttle service
between Coventry and Leamington. The trains and station will be run by
London Midland.

Why does it take so long to build a bloody station ? We seem to have same challenge in Reading with the Green Park station!

If I may.. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=NIMBYism

NIMBYism
A condition of railing against, and opposing in any way, the construction, installation, locating, etc. of any unwanted or otherwise aesthetically inferior, building, utility, group of people, etc in one's own neighbourhood or region, while finding it perfectly acceptable to put it in somebody else's.

This weekend the track was lifted and relayed next to the platform. However, there still looks to be a massive amount of work to be done on the building and its surroundings.

A friend's daughter got a lift back to Leamington last night due to the work going on.

This morning XC services were cancelled so the work must have overrun or be ongoing.

Looking at Real Time Trains, the first XC service of the day got delayed over a hour and then several ran via Solihull instead. Things look to be back to just about normal now.

I am very pleased for Kennilwortholians, but really do wonder if this is going to be a successful re-opening in terms of passenger numbers given that the service consists merely of an hourly shuttle to desitinations roughly 4 miles each side of the town.
Apologies, can't asnwer the OP's questions.

If nothing else, the second train per hour (however it fits) is a very welcome relief to the hourly wedge-ex currently on offer, especially in the peaks.

I will agree though that it will be interesting to see how the new station fares: compared to some settlements that have gained or regained a station in the past few years, Kenilworth is practically gargantuan; however a lot of residents for years have also had the option of a relatively straightfoward drive to Warwick Parkway for direct services to London and Birmingham. How this impacts the new development (and vice versa) will be interesting.

I can imagine a lot go to Tile Hill too, and I don't see why that would change either.

I imagine there's a large number who commute to places like Coventry University and currently park somewhere at great expense or in the outskirts followed by a long walk. Less so to Leamington since the station is a fair distance from the centre.

I'm wondering which platform it'll be using at Coventry too.

Looks like Platform 4 is booked, with the unit shunting to the "Coventry Ce Sdgs" between services

Although a quick glance at RTT shows an excellent +0 connection between the service from Nuneaton to the departure for Leamington.

That sounds like Quinton Rd Sidings (on the Leamington line) rather than Coventry Yard (Nuneaton line).

Wouldn't using Quinton Road involve two changes of ends on platform 4? If the train could carry on to the Central Six sidings this could be done off the main line, and only once per trip.

I understand this would involve crossing the fast lines so I guess it's 50/50.

Judging by a post by OwlMan in the thread about traction for the route:
Kenilworth station will not be finished until early next year - so no service in December

So the station has been delayed once more

At least I don't have to worry about heading up there on the 10th December

Monica - We are on track to open on 10 December and my mate Chris says that a train will be available.

http://www.kenilworthweeklynews.co....n-in-december-despite-delay-rumours-1-8207176

The opening of Kenilworth Station will still happen on Sunday December 10, despite rumours it could be delayed once again.

The amount of construction work still to be done as well as the possible lack of an available train on December 10 had led some to believe the opening date would be missed.

But joint managing director of Warwickshire County Council Monica Fogarty insisted everything was on track to open the station on time....

Will be interesting to see how the train competes against the X17 bus service, which I think runs every 15 minutes and penetrates most of Kenilworth quite well.
