Just noticed earlier that Stirling Station's address, whilst being at the foot of Station Road, is on Goosecroft Road.

Which other towns or cities have a "Station Road" but the railway station's official address isn't Station Road.

The official address is Pershore Road, the current 1978 station building being located on said road. Station Road itself used to cross the line by way of a level crossing but the road was severed when the line was quadrupled by the Midland railway in the 1890s.

Station Road in Port Talbot, does not apply to the station at Port Talbot Parkway even though the station is at the end of it. Station Road was originally for the Rhonnda and Swansea Bay railway station Aberavon Town at the other end of Station Road.

Lowestoft has a Station Road near the site of the old Lowestoft North, but the main railway station is located in Station Square.

Long Eaton has a station rd where the old station used to be but the present Long Eaton station is a couple of miles away and used to be Sawley Junction station which I think is a much better name.

Swanwick station near Fareham is about 1/4 mile from Station Road. It's actually on Duncan Road.

Station Road, Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, is more than half a mile from the present station. It runs into Elm Road then Church Hill which leads to the site of the original LTS station but this is also some distance.

There's a Station Street in Nottingham on which the original Midland station stood. The present station on Carrington Street was built after the Great Central had arrived in the city and was a 'keeping up with the Joneses' job.

Dunkeld & Birnam station is completely cut off from Birnam Station Road due to some idiot building the A9 in the way in the 1970s.

I nominate Eskbank (opened 6 September 2015) as the most recently opened station which is not on Station Road.

Station Road, Eskbank, still contains the station building for Eskbank & Dalkeith station (1849 - 1969).

Ormskirk has a Station Road, Railway Road, Railway Approach and Station Approach. The station is on the latter, none of the others are even on the correct side of the railway to get near to the entrance!

When I read the above I first guessed that Station Road would be near the former Blackpool Central Station. I checked a map and found that, on the contrary, Station Road is further south than Blackpool South Station. So I checked old-maps.co.uk and found that Station Road is near the former Lytham Road Station, which I'd never heard of before.

Wanstead Park/Forest Gate. Station Road is very close to both, but no station is actually on it.

There is also Rushden. The (non-national station to nowhere) is on John Clark Way, while Station Road is close by.

Plenty of settlements with Station Roads in Northants, without any stations at all.

I was going to mention Ormskirk as being one that was a bit odd, but what one has to remember is that the present station is a shadow of its former self, and was once accessible from both the Approaches.

Station Road in Billericay is nowhere near the station. It just provides a shortcut from Victorian development on Mountnessing Road to Western Road which leads to the station.

Strood's address is Canal Road, and that's the road you use to drive up to the forecourt. The railway is between Canal Rd and Station Rd, and you can walk through a foot tunnel from Station Rd to access the station.

Baillieston on the Whifflet line now has a station built in Strathclyde PTE days at Caledonia Road. On the other side of the main road which crosses the railway there is a Station Road (with a Station Park leading off it) which led to the former station which closed about 1964.

Loughborough has a Station Road, which is nowhere near either the current mainline (Midland) or heritage (Great Central) stations. It once served the LNW (Charnwood Forest Railway) station called Loughborough Derby Road which closed to passengers in 1931.

Station Road, Radlett - drops down to Watling Street (old A5, now A5183), but joins it about a 100 yards or more north of the actual Station Approach road giving access to the station.

Originally South Shore Station, then after Marton Line opened 1903 renamed Lytham Road, when Waterloo Road station opened. 1916 Lytham Roas station closed, Waterloo station renamed Blackpool South. The site of the old Grand Hotel is opposite, not far from the skew bridge.

Lytham station .
Originally a terminus. Moved when the 2 railways companies merged. Site was used as a goods yard till 1963. Now a fire station.

Risca (in South Wales near Newport) has a Station Road and Station Place which led to the original station which was closed in the 1960s. The current station, opened in 2008 along with others on the Ebbw Vale branch is further south.
