What's you favourites and why?

Here's mine...

Dinorben Arms, Bodfari (near Denbigh)

Lovely North Wales pub with great food and beer. It also has a very deep well.

North Arms, Wroxton (near Banbury)

A frequent haunt of mine and my friends when I lived in Banbury. I worked with a girl who had an evening job there so beers were often free. Thatched roof, sizeable beer garden, lovely food, beautiful women from a nearby American university, and altogether great atmosphere.

Kings Arms, Heath Common, Wakefield

My local. Stunning pub with great food and beer. Nice beer garden, and the pub has featured in TV cooking programmes with Jamie Oliver, and Brian Turner/Janet Street-Porter.

Strawbury Duck, Entwistle, Lancashire

Yes, I have spelt this correctly. Beautiful pub with good food, right near Entwistle station. A regular when I lived in Manchester.

You've already got one of mine (The King's Arms in Heath).

The Moorcock inn in Garsdale, the Railway Inn in Ribblehead are two I like.

Also the Stork in Glasson Dock is good.

Mine would be The Beer Engine opposite Newton st Cyres station. They make their own beer in the basement, do lovely food and it's wonderful.

The Fiddle I'th Bag near Earlstown and the Vulcan Foundry. Kind of out in farmland and also right by the WCML near Warrington. Really amazing Sunday Roast and other food plus loads of wartime memorabilia from nearby Burtonwood.

I second the vote for the Beer Engine in Newton St Cyres. We used to get the train there from Exeter and then walk back. Great beer!

I also like The Crispin in Great Longstone, and The Pack Horse in Little Longstone. They're a short walk off the Monsal Trail, a footpath on the old track bed between Buxton and Bakewell.

My favourite country pubs are The Barrel Inn in Bretton and The Buck Inn in Malham. I went to the former a couple of years ago for a meal with a friend (now my partner) and her family, and the food was really nice. The views were spectacular too, I'm definitely planning on visiting again at some point.

I visited The Buck Inn when I visited Malham a good few years ago now, and I remember having a few games of pool with a few of the locals. I didn't have anything to eat there, it was more how enjoyable the evening was more than anything else. I passed through Malham not too long ago, although I didn't stop for too long as I was a bit pressed for time.

My favourite country pub is the Peacock Inn, Ashdown Forest, West Sussex.

A great little pub in a lovely part of the world. Well worth a visit.
