I am conducting a survey of research to find out about the opinions of airline travellers; so I will be creating a couple of threads with polls attached. Feel free to leave any comments too!

This time:

I voted for single-deck plane.

My favourite plane is the A350 for passenger comfort. I don't really see the A380 as being much better than the A330 or A340.

If it was A380 vs B747 than I would prefer the 747-8 as it is the only one I haven't been on yet.

A380 any day of the week for me. Quiet, comfortable & a much nicer aircraft to fly on than anything else I've experienced when I've flown either long or short haul.

Cheers

Upstairs on a B747 is very nice, but in economy a A380 is preferable, simply because they are newer.

For quietness though a B787 takes some beating. Very impressed with these new machines.

Serious question?

747 are all on their last legs. Tired, 30 years old, tiny screens etc etc.

Even if I dont love all A380 layouts 747 have had their day. Wonderful servants as they were.

I haven't flown in either a 747 or an A380 so I haven't voted but I would prefer to fly in a narrow body over and above either...

In some ways I find the vast 777-300ER more impressive. And the 777 is an excellent aircraft with a very good safety record, it's a shame some airlines trash it by adding an extra seat across.

Most 777s are now in the horrible 10Y configuration now sadly...even BA are converting their Gatwick ones to this

It really depends on which airline and which class of travel.

Generally prefer A350 and B787, but B787 Y class is not nice on some airlines. I like the A380 but it's too big which means boarding and disembarking takes twice as long if you are in the back.

Generally hate B747 and don't particularly like B777 or A320/A330, though upper deck B747 which I have yet to try is apparently nice.

My favourite planes are the E170/E190 used at LCY though.

Way too many variables here to make it useful. I voted jumbo jet simply because she's the iconic queen of the skies. The whale jet is great but not quite an icon. That said in terms of comfort they are pretty much the same comparing new to new planes.

Since getting into aviation, I've taken a liking to the A380, however the Queen of the Skies - the Boeing 747 still reigns supreme <D

Just my opinion however :)

Depends on the airline and how they've specified it, really. Both the most and least comfortable long-haul planes I've ever been on are Cathay Pacific 747s- pre-refurb they were great, and post-refurb they were like cattle trucks.

But I'll go for the A380 as a technological wonder. Beginning to look like a bit of a white elephant, but genuinely amazing technology.

I don't mind the 777-300ER, but as most airlines have it 10-abreast it's a bit cramped, and its not as quiet as the A380. Not had the pleasure of a 787, and judging by the reviews on BA I'm not in any rush to.

Any single decker widebody aircraft with 2+4+2 seating in Economy :)

Arctic Troll, after two recent flights in Air New Zealand's 787s and their 3+3+3 economy seating configuration, I am hoping that I never fly a 787 ever again... good airline, crap plane.

I think I saw a news story fairly recently about Boeing ending production of the 747s. Think i went on a 747 many years ago and have never been on a A380. I wonder if immigration and customs staff hate it at an airport if they have 3 or more A380s land and use their terminal at nearly the same time

I work for the above at Gatwick, and we just get on with it (3x A380 flights per day from Dubai). Nowt else you can do really

Cheers
