Hello, a long time lurker from Wirral. Trainspotter at Mollington Street, Birkenhead in the last days of steam.

I've booked a CIV protected ticket from Liverpool Lime Street to London depart 12:47 arrive 15:04. I've also booked Eurostar depart 16:01 arrive Paris 19:20. So that is 57 minutes to get to St Pancras and through check-in.

I'm now wondering if that is viewed as a reasonable connection time between Euston and Eurostar waiting room. I think it is, but it is not my opinion that matters.

It is booked and paid for now so I have to live with the consequences of any delay but I've another similar journey to book so I thought I'd ask for opinions.

BRTimes.com gives a minimum transfer time between Euston and "London International" of 8 minutes for most of the day, with 15 minute minimum connection time at Euston and 35 minutes at London International, giving a total of 58 minutes. As such, you would appear to have an invalid connection by just one minute.

Indeed, Eurostar.com will not sell a through ticket from Liverpool to Paris using those two trains, forcing you onto the 16:31 from St Pancras.

The former cross-London transfer page in the NRT was even more pessimistic, giving 73 minutes for a connection between Euston and St Pancras where Eurostar is involved, though the effect would be the same in this case.

Yes, it's not officially a valid connection, but I think you're unlikely to have problems with staff in case of delays.

Thanks, I'll just hope that my train to London is on time. I won't book that connection in future.

Does the CIV work as an "advance" on the 12.47, forcing you to stick with that particular train?

Can I tack on my own question?

Using an Interrail ticket to travel on the 0717 Shipley to Kings Cross arriving at 0957 am I in time for the 10:58 E* to Brussels?

I can get an itinerary but I think an extra 15 minutes is needed for using Interrail Tickets.

Eurostar are now saying 45min generally, though that's qualified further on as "at busy times" - dont know whether that helps or not?

Perhaps you should get up for the 0636 instead
