Due to 1A40 with 57605 already being in trouble, 57604 the ECS Loco went down on rear of 1C99 to detach at Exeter and assist 1A40 already getting on for 2 hours late.
57604 obviously not very successful and failed completely between Tiverton Jn and Taunton. 59100 detached from freight at Taunton and sent wrong road to assist to Taunton where train terminated. 5A40 09+40 Taunton to Old Oak Common arranged worked by 504 and 605. Was blocking Platform 4 at Taunton with trains queueing for Platform 5 and the first Up HST, 1A73, ran via the Mule.

59100 also reported to get into difficulties whilst rescuing with a fuel issue.

So that's two of you quoting 59100!

What's this then, a game of "how many locos does it take to rescue a failed train".?! ;)

I think it's the annual holidays for the 57/6s .... which is ironic after all the online commotion when 57310 was lined up for a stint on the CNR last weekend!

Clearly GWR hasn't ordered the special 'reliability' paint that DRS request for all Loram loco repaints. ;)

OK, only the second failure this year on the whole NR service so not bad !!
SLEP 10532 has arrived fresh from refurb BUT no physical work has been done yet on first buffet or brake at Wolverton.

During October, Reading will be taking over the London end servicing on certain days for familiarisation before taking over from OC when it shuts.

And yes, either HSTGTi or 150 will be doing the Veg next year onwards (originally 158).

All fallen over in the West Country it would seam.

Didnt ralise the 57 Saturday service would not be running next year, is this due to expected short HST availability by then?

Ironically it seems the summer Saturday operation will in fact now be returning next year. Only one short HST will be available and to expect it to run six days per week is pushing it for maintenance. So the cranks and veg will have something to look forward to again :D

Whilst I was on the veg on 26th I got talking to a guy, and mentioned it being the last year and he said don't worry it isn't, and that he's involved with its running (tho didn't say exactly how, so I left it at that), and it'll be back next year.

We have it on the Tue/Wed/Thu, should be 'interesting' :|

I don't know the official reason, but there was a local derby rugby match at ivybridge yesterday. Normally attracts a good crowd.

Following a late running XC HST, which in turn was following a late running GWR HST, which was following an ECS 15x unit running from Plymouth to Exeter. I believe the ECS was the unit which had failed on the Gunnislake service earlier. The signal sections between Plymouth and Totnes are rather long so easy for delays to build up.

Subject to all the usual caveats 57604 is to feature as guest locomotive at the Bodmin and Wenford Railway diesel day on 16th September.

Just wondering, what's the PZ team's "please don't use notch 8" notice in the 57 cabs? Stop the lump getting toasted?

Paul, could you please post an update with the current situation regarding which coaches have been refurbished? I'm sure you've mentioned it through the thread, but just to have it all neatly in one place.

Thanks in advance! :)

Is there any reason week commencing 21/11 that the night riviera is only available on journey planners on the Friday night? I can't see anything on planned changes on GWR website,

Right then; after enquiries, nobody knows anything about not using notch 8 as far as we are aware ! Fitters or drivers. Was it one of ours or a one off defect to protect some of the down rated electrics for some reason ?

Also, not aware of any reason for non running in november according to internet, normal service.

It is time for a fleet update as we are half way through the SLEP fleet but they are by no means "satisfactory" !!

Happen to have a shot of it, it was in 605.
(few months ago, not seen it to look in cab since, maybe it was just after a repair or something?)

I raised this a few days ago via a contact, was open for bookings on GWR website until recently !

I can't remember what I did yesterday let alone afew months back !! Defiantly a repair on hold for either us or OC but without an exact date to check records, I can't say.

I'm not sure if this the right thread to ask - but is there a reason why the down Night Riviera, departing Paddington, on Sunday 26th November does not appear to convey sleeping cars? 'Seated' fares are being offered on gwr.com, but it appears that berths cannot be reserved. Or is this just a quirk of the reservation system related to weekend engineering work?
