Asking for time to decide?

Hi all

I'm new here but I've been browsing for a while - thanks for all the help everyone.

I would just like to ask, if I have been offered a trainee driver position with TOC 1 but I have a final interview in a week's time for the same position with TOC 2, would it be acceptable to ask TOC 1 to wait for TOC 2's decision before I accept/decline, given how sought after these jobs are?

I would accept the first. I've had friends request similar in other areas of work and it never seems to work out well for them so would presume the same with TOC. If they are for the same position, what is making you hold off on TOC1? Is the money very different?

Accept the position and go for the interview with TOC 2. Don’t have tell one about the other at all. If you get 2 job offers you are in a great place. If you miss out on TOC 1 then fail at TOC 2 that’d be a nightmare.

Definitely. I was recently in a similar position. I was offered job as police call handler whilst going through recruitment process for Train Manager. I had to accept police job before i knew 6 weeks later the outcome of the TM process just incase i wasn't successful. Fortunately I got the TM job so then just pulled my application from the police.

100% accept the first one, you can always change you mind and aren't contracted until the day you start, leave your options open as long as possible as at the end of the day, it's a career and you want to make the correct choice for your long term future.
