Storm Brian is expected to bring strong winds to southern parts of England and across Wales this weekend. In order to keep customers and colleagues safe during the forecasted high winds, emergency speed restrictions have to be implemented.
A 50 mph speed restriction will be imposed between 10:00 and 18:00 on Saturday 21 October between Cardiff Central and Gloucester. As a result of this, the following alterations will apply:
- Between 1000 and 1800 there will be no CrossCountry service between Cardiff Central and Newport.
- Mutual ticket acceptance is in place with Arriva Trains Wales and Great Western Railway over any reasonable route.
- Arriva Trains Wales will be running a severely reduced service between Newport and Cheltenham Spa, and some CrossCountry services will make additional calls at Caldicot, Chepstow and Lydney as a result.
- Delays of up to 20 minutes are expected between Newport and Gloucester.
