Shipton (need a good 5+ minutes here to switch platforms. Kite: how on earth you get those shacks in the Cotswolds with 1 train in the am/pm? Think they will have to wait until next Summer now!)

Bear in mind this was before the timetable changed, when the tiny shacks were served by a 180 starting from Didcot.

Train to Hanborough, cycled to Combe (easy to walk as well), train to Ascott-under-Wychwood, cycled to Shipton, train to Kingham then back to Reading

2nd week was train to Charlbury then cycled back to Finstock (you could also do that one by train to Finstock and walk to Charlbury.

Clitheroe
Hellifield (Ribble Valley line fully traversed!)

That be a job for some point next year to cover an annoying gap in my northern route coverage, I've gone northbound twice on railtours (a 70 to Carlisle & 66 to reverse at Hellifield) but never on a service train.

Also cleared Bognor and Seaford branches but stayed on the same unit thanks to SN timekeeping (or lack thereof)-or just the simple fact that Bognor is a dump.

I had similarly naff luck on the line via Henley. The guard hid in his back cab and we skipped the request stop of Danzey, went to ask why he didn't come through to ask or simply stop, and I was screamed at and given a load of abuse even when he could tell I wasn't going to argue with him

Cold fester at Henley ensued.

Some guards treat those request stops on the Stratford line as required stops as they can't be bothered leaving the comfort of the rear cab, although The Lakes bothers then as its local door only and it means entering the passenger area of the train where they could be bothered by passengers asking for details on connections or even a ticket ;)

Indeed I was amazed that after i'd been given a load of abuse and told to basically deal with his inability to ask about request stops, that I wasn't asked for a ticket as i'd boarded at Wood End

Complaint sent in anyway, no matter whether or not I should have been banging down the cab door to ask for Danzey rather than waiting for the guard to bother coming out, he still shouldn't have talked to me in the absolutely vile way he did (considering all I did was timidly say that I wanted Danzey and ask why he assumed nobody did)
