It's interesting that 3 million American citizens are suffering in Puerto Rico and Trump has said and done absolutely nothing to help them. This is far worse than Bush's Katrina reaction.

exactly - These are US citizens and nothing is being done to help while the President whines on about fluff. Wrong.

It's reported that two people died in hospital because the generators had no diesel.

Trump has their blood on their hands, but I'm pretty sure he won't care because they're 'only' brown people.

Perhaps it's time to call for he impeachment of the President of Puerto Rico? Clearly, whoever they are, they aren't doing their job!

How did this ****** idiot get to be President?

The ‘very big ocean’ between here and Puerto Rico is not a perfect excuse for a lack of aid

Twice on Tuesday, President Trump offered an excuse for why government aid to Puerto Rico has been slow to arrive after Hurricane Maria: Puerto Rico is an island.

“It’s very tough, because it’s an island,” Trump said during a meeting with members of the House. “In Texas, we can ship the trucks right out there. And you know, we’ve gotten A-pluses on Texas and on Florida, and we will also on Puerto Rico. But the difference is, this is an island sitting in the middle of an ocean. And it’s a big ocean; it’s a very big ocean. And we’re doing a really good job.”

Later, during a brief news conference, he repeated the assertion.

“Frankly, we’re doing — and it’s the most difficult job because it’s on the island — it’s on an island in the middle of the ocean,” he said. “It’s out in the ocean. You can’t just drive your trucks there from other states.”

That’s true. Instead, supplies must be transported by airplane or ship instead of by truck. But that’s still not a great excuse for why the island is awaiting supplies.

Humph!

I would have thought that given the sort of destruction you get on land from a hurricane that it would actually be easier to move supplies across a body of water...?

It is the ultimate non-excuse. It is a huge "F*** you" to the 3 million American citizens in Puerto Rico.

Indeed; I do wonder how long it will be before the media starts - if they haven't already - suggesting the most likely reason* Trump isn't interested in helping the Puerto Ricans?

*Already being thrown around on Twitter and no doubt other social media sites as well.

Oh, there's no doubt about it - if they were rich and/or white he'd be all over it.

Puerto Ricans don't have voting representatives in Congress.

And if they did, they'd be Democrats.

For that reason, as with Washington DC, the GOP have no interest in helping. Plus they're on an island out in the ocean that half the country doesn't even know is America.

But if Puerto Rico decided to liberalise abortion laws, the GOP would be all over it.

Further proof that Trump is an absolute dick.

Trump lashes out at San Juan mayor over Maria response

Donald Trump has lashed out at Puerto Rico politicians over their criticism of US relief efforts on the island following Hurricane Maria.

The category four hurricane a week ago killed 16 people on the island and left millions in need of aid.

In a series of tweets, Trump said that Puerto Rican officials showed "poor leadership ability" and "want everything to be done for them".

It comes after the Mayor of San Juan made a desperate plea for federal help.

"We have no time for patience any more," said Carmen Yulin Cruz in a news conference.

"I am asking the president of the United States to make sure somebody is in charge that is up to the task of saving lives.

"I am done being polite. I am done being politically correct. I am mad as hell."

She then appeared in a T-shirt that said "Help us, we're dying" for a CNN television interview.

The mayor said Puerto Rico is set to be without power for six to eight months after the storm damaged 90% of homes on the island.

Almost half the island's 3.4 million population are without drinking water, the US Defence Department said on Thursday.

Efforts are being made on the island to clear road access and restore hospitals to working conditions.

Trump Twitter quotes

The Mayor of San Juan, who was very complimentary only a few days ago, has now been told by the Democrats that you must be nasty to Trump.

...Such poor leadership ability by the Mayor of San Juan, and others in Puerto Rico, who are not able to get their workers to help. They....

...want everything to be done for them when it should be a community effort. 10,000 Federal workers now on Island doing a fantastic job.

It just never ends does it. Yet still no-one seems to be seriously doing anything to stop someone, obviously suffering a paranoia breakdown, from being in command of "the most powerful" country.

Even British politicians could do more - he tells brazen lies about British crime statistics, to make a cheap anti-Muslim jibe and we just sit and accept it, despite every media report pointing out that what he has said being simply untrue.

I like to imagine than in a decade, when we look back on the idiocracy that was Trump's time in office, those in power who did not stand up against him or call him on his BS, will be called appeasers and viewed in the same way as the politicians who tolerated Hitler and Stalin in the 1930s. Baffled children will ask in school, why so many just stood by and let a man who starts fights with war widows on Twitter and spends every day claiming that CNN is out to get him, be President.

Donald Trump insulted the wife of a fallen soldier few days ago. Donald Trump did not know the name of the soldier and said to wife that the soldier knew what risk he had taken as a soldier. This Donald Trump has a total lack of empathy. In defence of Donald Trump he denies it, but there was a (Democratic) witness in her car as the phonecall came in.

There is no defending the indefensible. To disparage and callously insult a fallen solider & his grieving widow in such a heartless, unfeeling manner is, quite frankly, disgusting.

Amazing that his core base still apparently consider him a Paragon of American virtue.

It is also very amusing that he was talking to an extremist (according to the Southern Poverty Law Centre) Christian group and they welcomed him with open arms, despite the fact his two divorces have cited extra-marital affairs.

Yet Obama continually had his faith challenged and questioned and continually had his patriotism questioned, despite being faithfully married and never insulting and soldiers or their families. Almost like there was something different about Obama, that made some people dislike him, regardless of his character or achievements...

I can't think what it could be, but there's definitely some kind of black and white difference in the attitudes towards Obama and Trump.

Mabey if someone can cover him in bathroom cleaner then that might get rid of him, well it's designed to get rid of scum and I'm sorry but the person who treats a grieving widow who's late husband is trying to protect the country he is supposed to be running in such an insulting matter is scum.

It just got harder for Donald Trump to get his tax reform passed in Congress as it's unlikely he'll get Jeff Flake's vote:

Jeff Flake: Republican senator quits with attack on Trump
A US Republican senator says he will not seek re-election, attacking the era of President Donald Trump.

"There may not be a place for a Republican like me in the current Republican climate or the current Republican Party," Arizona Senator Jeff Flake said.

Mr Trump has previously called Mr Flake "toxic".

A Tennessee senator whose name I didn't catch has also launched a verbal attack on Trump. Ultimately, though, the attempt to stop his name going forward for the 2020 election will probably rest on the efforts of George W. Bush and the men in suits. I never thought I'd offer three cheers for Dubya!

What this whole affair has taught us is that partisanship is the most powerful force in politics, as is cowardice. Trump is now meeting with people he plans to nominate for US Attorney. No president has ever done that before. The three he's met are 1) an associate in his lawyer's firm; 2) an associate in Rudy Guiliani's law firm; 3) someone who was on the Apprentice. And the districts those three cover? 1) Southern district of New York (Trump Tower); 2) Eastern District of New York (chez Kushner); 3) Southern District of Florida (Mar a Lago). It's truly impressive how corrupt he and his administration are, and how the GOP are entirely uninterested in any sort of oversight. I just have to thank god that the Trump administration is also, for the most part, incredibly incompetent. Just imagine what someone who knew what they were doing could do with this much laissez faire.

Sorry, I forgot, the GOP have decided to do some oversight: they're going to start investigating Hillary Clinton again!

Fox News loves Donald Trump and v.v.. What we say in the Netherlands as 2 hands on 1 stomach/belly. The only network DT wants to speak to. Not critical at all.
