Good morning

Apologies if wrong forum.

Can anyone tell me where the Jacobite engines are serviced? I've done a bit of a search, and even watched Julie Walters, but can't find any details of coaling or watering facilities on the route. I've read the engines are based at Fort William but no idea of any facilities there.

Thanks

DJ

Thank you very much Peter.

Is that a shed there, or are they stabled outside?

There's a small one road shed, but I don't think that it sees much (any?) use these days. I don't believe that the larger two road shed is even rail connected nowadays. Servicing seems to be undertaken in the open air.

The engines and stock are maintained in the open in Fort William yard, the engine also takes water at Mallaig using an electric pump on the non-public side of the platform. The sheds in the yard belongs to DB Cargo but aren't safe to enter because of the state of the structures. There's also a turntable at Fort William Junction. Some of the support crew for the steam engines live for the season in some rather grotty looking coaches in the yard.
